Azzanni Departing to NFL

He's the head coach, I hope he can control all of his guys.

But yes, if you know someone that will do the job the way you want it done, many people hire that way.

I remodel homes after leaving my previous career. I often hire subcontractors that I have worked with before or that will do as I ask.

When I say guys he can control, I mean he wants guys who won't ask questions or think about new and better ways to do something.

Yes, he should have "control" over people who are subordinate to him, but I have a feeling he wants lackeys who are there just to push the buttons and ask no questions. There is a difference. If you ask me, that isn't a good quality to have in a HC or anybody in any leadership position.

Have to get a big time recruiter to replace him, TN's best recruiter just walked out the door. Everybody jumping ship, that's 5 now not counting support staff, right?

There is one BIG name that hasn't landed yet.

Azzani wasn't our best recruiter. Azzani wasn't our SECOND best recruiter. Azzani wasn't...

And who would that be?

I think Tennessee best recruiter coaches the D line

As long as you have a feeling...:)

 surely you can't be serious. i have reservations about some of the hiring processes, and the hires themselves, but there's no way that's true, not even just a little bit.

Where r getting your info. Don't get me wrong I'm glad he's gone. I hope we upgrade in recruiting and technical aspects as well

Its been around here since last season

I thought it was common knowledge that his contract wasn't going to be renewed. Its why all the talk of staff turnover

I think Butch asks questions and thinks about new ways to do something himself, but he wants the guys under him to just implement whatever he comes up with.

if it were true, no one would work for him for longer than the first staff meeting.

The "All is well" crowd is out strong today.

Even using it as a way to prop up CBJ as a good developer of coaches.

For the record, I don't thing this has anything to do with CBJ. ZA wanted the OC job and didn't get it, id leave too.

They're all friends of Butch or been with Butch before they know how this boat floats

What's really funny is all the people on this board saying Butch needs to get rid of this coach and that coach and when it happens they start the "Omg that's alot of turnover" or "they see the writing on the wall".

Par for the course here.

Once again, I'm guessing Saban hires defensive guys and informs them of the same. Whether or not your system works seems to be the deciding factor for if it's okay to hire that way.

If you dislike the system, I have never had a problem with differing opinions on that. But butch does not do anything that several coaches haven't done, we just react very differently to it. It gets painted as some kind of new concept on here and it's very far from it.

I grumble for years about how average he is and the he gets hired to the same job in the NFL. All my hopes and dreams of making six figures a year evaluating D1 coaches are looking to be in vain.

I hear you brother. It appears you and I, and a large portion of VolNation aren't always correct. Go figure...

But wouldn't you agree the writing was on the wall here? If not now it would have happened nxt off season

Substitute "Nick Saban" for CBJ in the above arguments and see if it still sounds condescending. Isn't that what head coaches are supposed to do?

Agree with Orange_Vol. Damned if you do or damned if you don't around here.

Saban's a defensive genius and the greatest college football coach in history. It's kind of hard to question 4 national titles in 10 years. Butch needs a little more help.

There were two camps on Azzani on this board. 1. Worst WR coach ever and the reason 5 star WRs wouldn't sign here.
2. Not that bad, good recruiter and the unit improved this year.

Now why did you get your flamethrower out of hock again? :)
