We can and will do much better at WR coaching this year. Thanks Zach for the effort but it was time. I also now know that the Bears will commit to running the ball next year.

I would love to get D. Craig, gives us an in to Louisiana and I believe he was LSU'S main recruiter in the TN mid-state and he is known as being a solid coach, the coach at FIU has worked with Coach Scott before known as a good coach, but just a decent recruiter, wouldn't mind finding someone from the Briles or Babes coaching tree their guys always seem to be taught to get good separation of the line and with the speed we have at reciever next year that is something we really need.

the school confirmed wednesday morning that azzanni is leaving tennessee to become the wide receivers coach for the nfl's chicago bears after serving in the same position for the vols under jones for the past four years.

"we are really excited for zach and his family," jones said in a statement. "i have known zach for a long time and this is a path he has wanted to pursue for some time. We can't thank him enough for his loyalty, dedication and hard work over the past four years to our football program.

"we will begin the process of filling this position immediately. It’s a position we want to fill as quickly as we can, but we also want to go through the detailed process, which we will."

Who are some real possibilities?

D. Craig makes a lot of sense from an SEC and recruiting standpoint.

T.J. Weist makes sense too. He's coached with Butch at Cincy, and he coached with Walt Wells at Western. He did play for Bama though. (Enter conspiracy theories here)

Then again, the Warren hire came out of nowhere, so Butch could surprise.

Good luck in Chicago, CZA.

I can see it now: "And with the 3rd pick of the 5th round of the NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select - Josh Malone, WR - Tennessee."

I won't be surprised to see an NFL name or two pop up.

It's been like 1 hour how have we not hired a new WR coach yet. Fahr Butch!

Sounds like this came as a surprise at this time. After the season, there was a chance Azzani was going to leave, but the Chicago deal came about in the last 36 hours. CBJ's short list of replacements are mostly not viable anymore.

"This deal with Azzanni happened quickly. This has not been lingering out there. Interviews took place on Friday or Monday and Azzanni apparently accepted the position late last night. But wanted to tell his WR's first as well as the team and he did get to do that this morning. It was something that wanted to have happen the right way which is why it didn't leak out last night. He kept it close in order for his players to hear it first directly from him.

Now, as fans wish him luck the question is what direction does Jones turn. Remember, Jones is a former receivers coach and has more ties to that position in coaching than any other. He also really knows what he wants/expects out of a receivers coach.

I think he wants a guy with power 5 experience. That's why I don't think at this point T.J. Weist would be at the top of his list.

I wouldn't be surprised if some names from the Big 12 make the board. Andre Coleman at Kansas State is a guy I like. I think he has done a really good job there. Now he's a K-State grad so would he be interesting in leaving.

I'm told former Kentucky head coach Joker Phillips would love to get back into the SEC. Not sure if that's possible because of what happened at Florida with him.

But I think Jones will lean towards a proven name at this level as he continues to evolve his program."
