Same here, couldn't agree more. I think this ears at me more than the Vandy or sc loss TBH.
It's sad it took Jalen Hurd going berserk to figure out how talented kamara was and how much of an epic fail it was for him to not get more carries.
Easily my biggest complaint about our coaching staff. Had a 1st round draft pick as a second string running back.
Smh at this revisionist history. Jalen was a very talented RB. I didn't see a lot of people leading up to last season demanding that he be benched in favor of Kamara. Most people were looking forward to him being the #1 rusher in program history.
The issue with what Butch did was not that he didn't bench Jalen in favor of Alvin. But rather that he didn't play them together more.
Alvin was at worst our 3rd best offensive player (after Dobbs and Hurd). He should have been on the field nearly every snap. If not to run the ball he should have been in the slot as a receiver.
His lack of playing time was criminal. Not the fact he wasn't starting ahead of Hurd.
Jalen Hurd may be hated now but let's not act like he sucked. Kamara was backup to the should have been all time leading rusher in TN history. Kamara had a very good season his first year as or team set records running the ball. Beginning of this year I can understand the complaint as he deserved more consistent carries when Hurd would struggle. Kamara would not have been able to handle 25-30 touches a game. He was about to die after AM game. Kamara is better off for us not wearing him out and if he doesn't miss games with injury his numbers look even better

I agree with this. I was a huge Hurd fan. He played terrible all year this year and it is very clear looking back that he didn't want to be here. But Kamara should have gotten the ball more often than he did, especially last year.
Glad someone is finally saying this besides me. Hurd was elite his first 2 years. Kamara looked a LOT better by not playing against the top defenses in our schedule too. Yes he should have gotten more touches, which would have kept Hurd fresh enough to be more productive. And we should have had a package that used Hurd in a proper way. Badly mismanaged across the board, but Hurd was not some scrub back that wasn't any good.
Since we are dreaming about what might have been, well, except for body thong guy with Kristy that cannot be unseen (I hate you InVOL), I have a 'what if'. I agree with our resident Bassmaster that Kamara was way underutilized for two seasons. At first I bought into the Hurd is better until I saw that Butch was not going to adapt the offense to fit his talents.
So, what if Butch had let Hurd go on and leave after the 2015 season when Jalen wanted to transfer?
Kamara had 143 offensive touches that created 988 yards. So in 11 games he averaged 13 touches and at 6.9 yards a touch. Hurd averaged 4 yards per touch in his 7 games. Kelly averaged 5.4 when you remove Tennessee Tech from consideration.
JMO, I think it would have been 10-2 or better and win the East. Maybe the D injuries are not as bad because the D is not on the field as much with a better balanced, ball control offense.
