Did anyone hear the Erik Ainge show this morning? He said that we should all listen tomorrow at 10:00 for some information about the AD search. I am assuming he is going to have some guest on his show, but I don't know for sure.

I'm sorry but Dave Blackburn is the homerun hire. Not the former Wofford AD or Jon Currie or a fired football coach.

Dave Blackburn is such an easy slam dunk can't miss hire. Only the University of Tennessee could miss a layup like this.

I like Blackburn but Morrison would hold feet to the fire and is incredibly respected in college football and the NFL. His ability to find a top tier coach if CBJ didn't make it would be applicable to this hire.

Guys will need to win or they will be replaced by coaches with a southern pedigree.

There was a 247 article the other day that said Smith was healthy. No actual info on Sapp, but I thought he tore an ACL early last fall. If I'm remembering right he should still be several months from being ready.

Edit: Here's the article that says Smith is healthy.

AUSTIN SMITH

Smith is often one of the forgotten men on Tennessee’s roster, but this coaching staff has loved Smith since he starred at Atlanta-area Buford High School. Smith was always a bit of a developmental prospect who needed to find a permanent position, but that’s not been his biggest problem the past two years. Staying healthy has been his problem. Smith is healthy now, though, and with stars Derek Barnett and Corey Vereen now preparing for the NFL Draft and others like junior Kyle Phillips recovering from surgery, Smith (along with fellow third-year sophomore Darrell Taylor) should get a ton of reps this spring. He would do well to take advantage of them.

See, this is why I am more optimistic than most. It takes awhile to build depth. When we started off in such a hole four years ago these kinds of players weren't even sitting on our bench. This past year, with so many injuries, even then he wasn't available. And, he could get injured again, obviously, and not be available this year. That would mean he has been here two or three years and never played a meaningful snap, and yet be a very good football player, perhaps even a star.

This is why CBJ says it takes 7 years to build a program. What he was saying was it takes 7 years to build a bench full of good football players. Because some you miss on the talent, some you miss on the attitude and some get injured. So you go through the process of rebuilding every year, and it's why we have to take 25 or more players every year, at least until you build the whole program, including a bench full of good players.

I believe some of these guys step out of the shadows this year and contribute, big time.

It is truly amazing to me that we live in a country where people actually support and believe in such nonsense. It is scary how stupid and out of touch with reality some people are today. Not only that, the number of idiots seems to be growing at an alarming rate.

And we are perilously close to that group of idiots being able to win elections. The end of liberty is (relatively) near, folks.

I'm pretty sure he's going to be interviewing Blackburn tomorrow at 10.

Dave Blackburn going to another SEC program and taking their athletic program to the top is going to be the most Tennessee thing ever.

The more I've thought about this the less I want Fulmer as a 2nd option. Blackburn or bust for me.

Tennessee's collection of boosters and administration are crapola.

Hyams said his sources said they were starting from scratch. We have the most F'd up administration in all of the SEC.

Does the crappy year in the weight room under Lawson's replacement continue to hurt us this year? Or is it something Rock can fix between now and September?

I hate thinking that some of the young guys who needed that freshman to sophomore jump (Jones, Hall, KMack, Tuttle, Picou) were subject to a S&C program that wasn't up to SEC standards.

Not a fitness expert by any means but I think Rock can get them there in this off season.
