Flynn Resigns Amid Russia Controversy

I can live with the fact that they investigated the possibility of collusion between Trump and the Russian government or Trumps team and the Russian government. It's pretty apparent by now that nothing illegal was done by either.

The disturbing part of this story is the leaks done for one purpose and that purpose is to undermine the administration. This will escalate from new administration to new administration.

That is anything but apparent. Flynn is being investigated by the Army for accepting payments from the Russian government. He was paid for attending the gala where he sat next to Putin and failed to disclose it.

Leaks are a part of every administration. Sure, in a perfect world there would be no leaks.

I'm just finding it hard to see how this shouldn't have played out the way it did if the intelligence sharing by friendly services was true.

He was spied on. The transcripts are clearly available. Had he done something illegal it would have been known. His biggest problem was misleading the Vice President

You can't deny that the leaks in this admin are excessive. It's the product of a hyper-politicized executive branch

We'll see. I don't think this matter is closed by his resignation. Leaks are coming out left and right now about the Trump campaign having repeated contacts with Russian intelligence.

Obama's administration was tripping over themselves trying to get to the press before other leakers.

Anybody not see this leak storm coming?

It's hard to know what's real and what's politics.... which is pretty much the point.

The intelligence services new what Flynn had and had not done prior to his appointment by Trump so either a) they didn't report these calls to the administration. For what reason we can only guess. Or b) they did but Flynn was following instructions so he was appointed anyway, then the information was leaked as some sort of retaliation. Which forces Trumps hand.

In either case this looks bad on the intelligence services and DOJ.

Ugh... trump asked for his resignation because he mislead them, not because Flynn was spied on and surreptitiously leaked to media...

The seriousness? If you voted for Hillary than you are instantly discredited in admonishing the seriousness of what Flynn did. Lol

You defend anything Donald does. At what point will you admit that he is horrible?

Looks bad on the intelligence services but not Donald? Seriously?! They informed the administration. The administration did nothing.

The leaks make the intelligence services look like petulant children.

This makes Trump look bad also but not near as bad as the DOJ and intel services.

I don't believe any leak coming out of the WH or any US Govt entity is good...BUT he really pushed the Wikileaks issue and it really played a part in him winning the election. As long as the leaks don't effect national security, I guess what comes around goes around

I think it depends on the circumstances. Does Watergate blow up without Mark Felt? Some things should be exposed. I think Felt just cared about his country.

I agree. But we're talking about An environment where somebody leaked the contents of a phone call with the Australian Prime Minister.

Everyone with common sense saw this coming the moment Trump decided he wanted to wage a war with the IC in public and on twitter.

Is it DOJ or intelligence services? Could there be incriminating stuff, that the leakers don't want to disclose for a number of national security reasons, but felt leaking the meta data was an option that accomplished the same goal without unwarranted risk? There is a lot of gray area I think.

Regardless, it makes Trump look bad as well.

This is why I can't take you people seriously.

You cry about Flynn. Trump forces Flynn to resign. And then you're still crying.

Cry about everything

So did Flynn go rogue, or was he following orders? A career military guy respects the chain of command. My bet is he was following orders. Donald praised Putin's restraint ONE day after Flynn's conversation with the ambassador. Like I said, you defend Donald at every turn. Party over country, am I right?

Actually it makes them look like professionals. For all the boasting and bragging he did.....the disrespect he showed them. They are feeding him some humble pie. You don't disrespect an entire organization and expect them to protect you.
