Official Bubble Watch Thread

The big game is Va Tech. Need them to lose.

Loser of Michigan/Indiana is just about eliminated from an at large

Memphis has a slim chance at an at large but a L would wipe out any chance

Wichita State is possible to get an at large but also is the favorite in MVC, a loss and their shot of an at large is gone making MVC likely a 1 bid league

Nevada has an outside shot of an at large if they don't get the auto bid, a loss eliminates that possibility

Northwestern is in, but not a lock, a W probably makes them safe though...L and their margin for error gets slimmer

As you say UVA/VT is a big one, VT is in but has been trending downwards, a W would get them back in the right direction

If 4-3 was path Vols were destined for UGA was the best 3rd loss possible outside of UK and SC speaking RPI wise

Not sure how accurate the wizard is at rpiforecast but I did a scenario of finishing 17-13, beating Bama and Auburn and losing to Florida in the SECT and we'd still be 4th best rpi in the SEC at 40 with an SOS of 11.

Lord. Never thought I'd be saying that after we lost Stella.

It's really an unusual year. With as much parity as there is on both ends of the bubble, all bets are off as far as the historic number of wins required or maximum number of losses allowed. Also with a field of 68, there's not a real long history.

As much as i selfishly want in, I want it more for the players. You can tell they want it so bad.

IMO this is what it would be at this point...

Minnesota
VCU
Northwestern
Oklahoma State
Kansas State
California
Iowa State
TCU
Miami
Virginia Tech
Michigan State
Clemson
Arkansas
Marquette
Syracuse
Wake Forest
Michigan
---------------------------
Tennessee
Seton Hall
Indiana
Utah
Houston
Rhode Island
Illinois State
Nevada
Boise State

Just gonna do a few to compare, projected resumes:

Marquette 18-12(9-9) RPI:79 SOS:60
Syracuse 18-13(10-8) RPI:70 SOS:41
Wake Forest 17-13(8-10) RPI:37 SOS:12
Michigan: 20-11(10-8) RPI:42 SOS:37

Tennessee 16-14(9-9) RPI:55 SOS:13
Seton Hall 18-12(8-10) RPI:58 SOS:39
Indiana 17-14(8-11) RPI:81 SOS:34
Utah 18-10(11-7) RPI:74 SOS:90

So keeping in mind no team with a RPI over 67 has ever gotten an at large, and also that not no team has ever gotten in being less than 4 games over .500, who's getting in?

For how many spots?

Yep. Bad bubble and everyone is losing and our fans act like it's football and the season is over with a loss. Smdh

16-14 and 2-1 SECT run to finish 18-15 would give Vols RPI of 50 according to wizard, have to think there's a chance that could even work. Season far from over.
