Like I said elsewhere...I'm not interested in piling on Wells. The adminstration and program can't seem to get out of their own way however.

What's the big deal though? Even if it were a DUI conviction? With that said, he plead guilty to reckless driving........the horror

I'm not here to hammer the guy....Mistakes happen.

The unbelievable thing is the uneccesary bad press this program and administration continues to heap on itself.

Yep. Not only did we hire a guy who's never had a job coaching OLs at this level, we promoted him after knowing he was arrested recently for reckless driving and DUI. Just begging for more questions and criticisms.

Kind of hard to pile on if the charges were dropped anyway.

Plus, I'm sure all posters on VN are saints and never have done a single thing considered wrong.

It's unfortunate. But, it's not like the "Vol Image" isn't tainted anyway. Some Fodder for the haters and something to use in recruiting against us. You know CBJ wants 5 Star Hearts as well as 5 Star Competitors, this should be staff also.

The big deal, to me, is not Mr. Wells. It's the seemingly poor decision of the administration/ program to promote this guy over someone with a better resume and no arrests. There's room to disagree on this...I just don't think it shows good judgement on their part.

Again...It's the optics, not just to us but to the public and the media.

Your second point, while true, hopefully has nothing to do with the hiring practices at the University.

What a terrible human being. Let's all join together to condemn him.

We should hold him accountable for his actions. That is part of what it means to be an adult. It's an idiotic thing for him to have done could have killed someone. Pretty ignorant of someone to brush over something this serious.

Again....More proof that, to some, if it's clad in Pantone 151, it's obviously above reproach.

We can't say that about recruiting, we have no idea how many position coaches have done one thing stupid in the past.
This is over a year old and we only know about it because that's what our media does. In most college towns, the media are homers. So just because we are unaware of it, doesn't mean they're going to run to the front to show off their glass houses.

What makes you think he wasn't held accountable? It was said elsewhere that the charge was reduced and the DUI was dropped. It wasn't covered up either. The media is just looking for someway to take a big steaming deuce on anything positive for the football team.
