There is actually a significant amount of evidence for the resurrection of Jesus. His resurrection verifies His claims.

Correct. Evidence doesn't matter to some of the anti-Christian crowd. No amount would be enough because it's not about that. It's about something else. I wonder how many of these have really investigated the many scientists who are Christians, or read books that are outside of their realm, like The Reason for God by Timothy Keller. Listen to Ravi Zacharias and get back to me about "silly" fairy tales. Truth hurts. Tim Miller is a great guy. I was called to ministry at his church and his Dad who is pastor there mentored me. Great man himself. Haters gonna hate always have. Scripture tells us. I roll my eyes at the comments and pray for the guys who have so much hate.

5000 eyewitnesses who recorded events, a number of men who opposed Christ all of a sudden transformed and willing to die for their faith,most did. The fact that His body was never found when it would have ended this movement that was a hindrance to the government. No greater coup than to find His body. Have you researched the soldiers guarding the tomb and the scientific odds of Him getting out of the tomb? Have you read some of the writings I suggested in my post? Have you actually researched evidence or are you just making a statement because it seems unrealistic to you? You want evidence? Give me your email and I can send you tons. However, something tells me you are already prepared to discount it.

Don't believe in magic. To those that do. That is your opinion. I've always viewed religion as a crutch used by people to make the bad things they do seem ok because God forgives them. If believing in something that is rationally and scientifically impossible floats your boat good for you.

As you seriously saying you need religion to be moral? If you are being good to others for some eternal reward or fear of some eternal punishment then your moral compass doesn't exist.

People can believe whatever they want and if faith gives you strength then by all means have at it Hoss but guess what you don't have to believe in some all powerful being to be a good person.

Doing good things and helping others is it's own reward.

And THAT is the perfect response to this article. Well done. It's a guy making a difference and a coach who lets him have a platform. Butch would get hammered if news broke of 7 players robbing a store broke, but people gonna hate when he gives aman of integrity a platform to mentor student athletes and involve them in a community. Josh Fobbs aactually noted the impact of this in his letter this week. It's ridiculous others insist on taking a shot at faith instead of just replying like Volleygirl did.

Interestingly, that is what I think about those that believe in the "big bang" theory.

As for a crutch, that is what I think about when I see people who think they are their own god.

I guess all beliefs can be seen from many angles.

Good that you don't believe in magic. Magic is deception which is the opposite of truth only found in Christ. Those who come to him no longer need a crutch for their sin-sick soul, but can finally drop those crutches because they found the cure.

Some of the most moral people I have known have been nonreligous. Christianity isn't about doing. You are correct. I read the article and saw it as a guy who happens to be a pastor investing in student athletes, many who came from other places, and helping them grown into young men. I didn't see it as a plug for the faith.

Hmmmm. So what I'm getting from these posts is...

1. This thread has nothing to do with football....even though it's about the chaplain of the football team and how they interact with him. :thumbsup:

2. People reading this thread are offended because it's about religion, even though the thread title clearly states that it is about the chaplain and should easily be assumed that it is about religion. :thumbsup:

3. Some of you feel the necessity to come into this feel good thread, that clearly is about religion, and spew your anti-religion agenda. :thumbsup:

I do applaud all of you for one thing though. You have probably accomplished something that has never been done on VN before. In one fell swoop, you have actually caused BaldBiker (me), sjt18 and fade route to all collectively agree. For that I applaud you. :clapping:

Crutch? My friends buried their 3 year old a few months ago. Things don't seem okay, but they believe God is on His throne and they go to Him in their agony. We cry out to him together. I am dealing with crippling health issues that have sidelined me at 38, my faith isn't a "crutch", it's something I believe even when things aren't okay. It's belief that one day they will be okay. It would be easier to not believe what I do, and to act on my instincts and desires instead of denying myself to follow Him. I really don't like these debates on here but comments like this demand some insight.

I agree and have no problem at all with what the pastor is doing. Like I said if faith makes you a better person then have at it. I just can't stand it when someone says that morality comes from belief.

Lol. I respect your beliefs bro. But it is my belief that your christian word twist you did right there is self serving in that it is a indirect way of saying I am wrong. But thanks for the hymn.
