Recruiting Forum Football Talk XXXII

You are less than 100 posts away from 1.0 per day. If you were really serious about it, you could do that in little to no time. I'm beginning to have serious doubts about your allegiance to VN.

jus sayin

My plan is to post here that I think we should try to fill up our class by September and then cut as many loose as possible in January to "upgrade." I figure that debate with Bruin will be good for a few hundred posts :)

I am just joshin' with you, Bruin. That practice is not my favorite, either, though, I feel it is, unfortunately, necessary, to some degree.

There has been some talk that jones is going away from the big numbers so quickly. Fingers crossed.

I know there's talk that Jones is going to be more selective early with the 2018 class but I just don't see it happening. And it's because I don't think he does it for the reasons fans think.

I think we fill up early because Jones likes the perception of having a highly rated recruiting class. Imagine our class looked like Florida's class heading into January. No way we close as strong as they do. We don't have the recruiting territory they do. Jones is scared of being perceived as dead in the water on the trail. Can't say I blame him.

If highly rated guys don't jump on board early, go ahead and prepare yourself for a lot of early takes to keep the class in the top 10.

Wow Cat! Wouldn't have figured you for one to be able to pull that line out. I'm impressed. Even for being a musician.....that's long before your time.

You a Simon and Garfunkel fan?

Edit: After thinking about it, I realized that should just be Simon.....no Garfunkel when He did that song.

I gave him a like for the reference, too. Mostly because I know that, like me (I'm 40...and it has just dawned on me that in the 6 months that I've been 40, I've not said" I'm a man, I'm 40"), he's not old enough to have been a fan when they were current.

And, by the way, he and Garfunkle did perform it together at the Concert in Central Park. One of my favorite songs from that concert.

Good win last night over Ole Miss... makes it even harder to understand how we blew it in Starkville... that was awful.

Good win last night. Hubbs was dinged up At Miss State - weak knees from previous injuries. Team is not making free throws after a good start of the season. Bad with them again last night, but had enough to overcome it.

The team is so young, they are feeling the effects of the longer season at a higher level of competition. They depend on quickness, jumping ability and hitting jump shots. When tired they can't rebound well enough in some games to overcome the lack of height along with being off in their FG accuracy. When combined with missing FT's - they will struggle.

Haven't been on in a while. Just caught a new mock draft you guys might find interesting.

19. TB - Alvin Kamara, RB, Tennessee

22. MIA - Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee

Always funny how much these guys move around pre-draft

Its all moot till the combine.

If it means we make room for the higher rated guys down the stretch, I'm fine with it. We just have to prepare to listen to the 3* army for a while. It's just not realistic for all of the elite guys to commit early.

Where have you gone, Joe Dimaggio? Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you.

It will be a felony, if Barnett is not taken in the top 10.

My favorite lyric of theirs: "All lies and jests, still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest"

By the way, I remember seeing where Paul Simon gave, I think, $100,000 to the fundraiser/telethon that Dolly Parton did for Gatlinburg. Solid.

Yep. The concert in Central Park was why I made the original reference, then I remembered that Paul had actually recorded it solo before they did the concert.

I'm starting to believe he won't be. Might actually be better for his career long term, but I starting to think if NO doesn't grab him at 11 he may fall into the 15-25 range.

Who knows at this point.

What is wrong with you people?! That 10,000th like is all I have left to look forward to in life and you're going to take that from me to?!

:cray:

It's all about the 10,000th post. We can't take that away from you, try as we might.

RE: people who think Barnett won't test well at the combine

Do you even Tennessee football, bro?

He might not be "elite" but he will be top end.

Solid lyrics for sure.
