I'm not impressed with Wells's resume, but I am impressed with the reviews from high school coaches and some of the more well-respected posters on this board and others. I also think it's not insignificant that Wells has been on the staff for a while, giving Butch a chance to work with him and get to know him. I don't think this move would have been made if Butch wasn't completely convinced Wells would be an upgrade over Mahoney. I'm cautiously quite optimistic about this change.

Good answer IMO.

Mike Griffith on the SEC Country podcast made an interesting statement. He said that he thinks Mahoney will probably be bitter and "might end up in a 247 article as an anonymous source like other coaches who lost their job at TN and we'all say it's credible. No, it's no credible, it's people who are bitter". If he knows who the sources are it seems to have confirmed our suspicions about the anonymous sources being disgruntled former coaches and players. Especially since everything else seems to indicate that the culture is just fine at Tn

Derek Barnett keeps falling down draft boards in a lot of these mocks. I don't get it. I feel like people are overthinking this. He was an absolute monster week after week.

That being said, if he has to drop in the draft, I hope he drops to the Cowboys.

Mocks are giant crap shoots until after the Combine. If he tests and interviews well, back up he goes.

Mahoney needs to keep his dam mouth shut. He got fired about three years late.

Lol...probably exactly what will happen too. Disgruntled coaches...lol. Yeah let's forget about the fact that CBJ has made you hundreds of thousands of dollars through the years and get mad that he let you go because you weren't continuing to do your job the way he expected you to.

Sounds about par for the course.

My posts per day count is still under 1.0. I have been working hard to rectify that. The problem is that when I signed up, I ventured into the FF instead of coming over here. The trauma from that visit precluded me from coming back for many, many months. I did finally see the light and make my way over here. It has been mostly refreshing. I will continue to work like heck to get my posts per day average up to a more respectable level.

I see 7 stars under your name but you must have a 3 star heart. If you work like heck, you can get a 7 star heart and be a 7 star poster!

That was my first and last crack at the 5 star heart, 5 star competitor gaffe. I'm good now.

You are less than 100 posts away from 1.0 per day. If you were really serious about it, you could do that in little to no time. I'm beginning to have serious doubts about your allegiance to VN.

jus sayin

They should have the same attitudes as us who spend too much time on this board during work hours have -

" Nah, I'm not mad. Suprised it took them this long ".

Vols BB still squarely on the bubble:

"Tennessee [13-10 (5-5), RPI: 35, SOS: 2] Buckle up, Vols fans: This is going to be a weird one. Teams with 10 losses by the first week of February tend not to merit much bubble consideration. The same is true of teams whose losses to top-150 teams (10) outnumber said wins (eight). But when those teams have UT's schedule -- which the RPI sees as No. 2, with a top-10 nonconference schedule rolled in -- things get slightly more complicated. Rick Barnes' team gave itself a massive boost the week by knocking off Kentucky and then Kansas State in Knoxville, before a recent stumble at Mississippi State. UT's hopes seem destined to go to the wire -- and, in the meantime, will fluctuate more on a game-by-game basis than almost anyone."

If watching UT BB for years has taught me anything, it's that we'll put together another nice run of 2-3 games, look safely "in," lose two games that seemingly knock us out, go on another mini run to end the season but need to win two in the SECT to get safely back in, blowout the first round opponent, and then inexplicably not show up for the second round game.

That's the spirit!
