I think we are better

I too look forward to the competition and hope that the quality of play makes the decision on a starter difficult. Yes, I'd like three QBs seeing the field, making good decisions, throwing lasers to receives in the flats and beautiful arches to WRs sprinting down the sidelines. IMHO, the best problem to have would be all QBs on the roster ready to start, even if it means someone transfers before their eligibility is up.

Admittedly, for me, the long off-season is a time for revery, orange Nehi-fueled dreams of over achievement and future grid-iron glory. Oh well, Spring training should give us a glimpse of reality soon enough.

I think the most exciting springs are the ones with a good quarterback battle.

I'm with you. I tend to take the optimistic path in the offseason. We're still undefeated in 2017, right? :)

Guys we could put 11 receivers on the field and just wear folks out all game long. Plus Rbacks, plus ENORMOUS TEs. Also got to understand most of these kids are just starting to physically develop. Pretty eye popping. the script has flipped for UT. We are going be an electrifying pro offense. No more high school hi jinx.

I really don't understand what you guys don't see. We are about to look like a completely different football team. It's right in front of you, and if you are going to take down UT you better do it before 2018, because Butch Jones is set up to take over college ball in 2018.

I agree he may not make it that far, time is not on his side. But if he does, there is no doubt about whether or not he is "the guy".

So Butch might get fired but if not he's awesome? Got it.

That's a barn full of receivers.

2017 - 16 WR listed
2016 - 16 WR listed
2015 - 18 WR listed

Whats the point

I've been in the camp that I don't think the 2017 team will be as bad as most think if we can find our quarterback early on. There's plenty of talent on this roster, which includes two top ten recruiting classes, to be in the hunt for Atlanta

Or the same depth that beat Florida and Georgia. The Vandy crap has to be corrected, though. There's absolutely no excuse for losing to those guys twice. That's the biggest black mark on Butch's resume, in my opinion.

Nor does your interpretation of past evidence predict the future. As they say on the brokerage commercials, past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results.

Being 0-3 to Muschamp (at 2 different schools) is nearly as much of a black mark as the Vandy losses

That's actually a good observation I'll take to heart. How come we only saw a hand full of receivers and we had half the depth? Could it be because we were dinking around with cosmonaught that could run at QB?

Or maybe it's because we depended on 5 stars that blew up the team half way through the season. Think Butch learned a lesson about 5 stars that can be bought on the open market?

1. We dont throw that much
2. We dont develop talent well.
3. Before Jennings emergence, we really didnt have a wide out that would go fight for the ball.

Combination of many things, what i do know is Malone is the only wr that has come close to 1000 yards and he is not here anymore

So, you're suggesting that UT should go 5 wide on the majority of their plays? In the SEC?

Whoever wins the QB job better have a sweet life insurance policy.

What do you care? We remain a cupcake on Bama schedule regardless of who the qb is.

I'm not going to play with you for long on my phone but you know that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying we are about to look more like a pro style offense because that's what we've stacked the roster with and I haven't seen that in a long time. Hell, we haven't seen what 2/3 of this roster is. BUtch has been keeping them up his sleeve like an ace card. I think you should go look at the freshmen TE. Those boys are gonna be big.

I don't get why you keep saying this. Butch Jones has never coached a team that has run a traditional pro-style offense. What makes you think he's suddenly going to change the scheme he's utilized his entire career?

I ask again, are you being facetious? That's a bunch of names on a roster. Only one of those guys has demonstrated he's SEC caliber as a WR.
