Don't know whether to laugh at them or believe it but InsideTenn just put out a top 5 newcomers for next season and they didn't list smith or gray.

In order they had labruza, chandler, Crosby, butler and shamburger as the top 5.

It's not that illogical. Whether he is good or not, I doubt that Smith starts. I said back when we signed Richmond that it will be troubling if we have to start him in year one. We are much better upfront now, and even with his talent, I think he is a backup in year one.

Well we are pretty deep along the OL and at safety if Kelly doesn't get moved so it wouldn't be surprising. I can see Gray helping a lot on special teams.

Jones has proven difficulty in developing elite talent, so I am not sure what folks think is going to happen to marginal/good talent that we signed yesterday.. not trying to knock the kids, they will come in and do their very best, but proof is in the pudding. Our best WR left early and our other one is getting arrested... Byrd showed flashes but no one else jumped out or really stepped up.... we will have a new QB.... staying healthy will be an absolute must if we are to even be competitive next season. What irks me the most is with all the issues and negativity perceived with FL and Donkey's recruiting, they surged past us and landed a top 10 class along with Auburn.... I still would like to know what GA's and Smart's secret was this year to their success.... This will unfortunately be the beginning of the end for Butch-- I know folks will say that is crazy after one marginal recruiting class, but look at who we lost on the roster, who is taking their place, and who will be in the two deep for the next two years.... Many feel we nosedived in recruiting because we crapped the bed at SC and Vandy, along with all the end of the season speculation of Butch looking around/coaching instability... We are not going to win as many games next season as this season and Butch's seat will be even warmer... how do you think our recruiting class will look then? I hope I am wrong, but folks need to quit chugging the orange koolaid and settle in for an average season and then extreme instability to the coaching staff in December....

If we do poorly this year on the football field and in recruiting, Butch has nothing left to offer Tennessee.

But you never know. Maybe we surprise some teams this year and have a solid year and a solid recruiting class, then everything will be fine.

Why must we continue to read this stuff? I am a fan. I cannot see into the future. I root for my team. How stupid of me to have faith that we will be fine.

While Derek Barnett was a 4 star, he was ranked 5th in the state, and no one had any clue that he would break the all time sack record. Therefore, we have no clue how good these kids will be. Even if a couple are half the player of Barnett, we will be fine.

I am looking forward to fresh faces. It's clear that last year's team had a chemistry issue at some point. We now have players who want to prove themselves. Let's support them.

Maybe based on who contributes the most next year?

If Trey Smith doesn't break the starting line up they should redshirt him. Me personally I think he'll start at right guard. No offense to Jack Jones bit that's just how I see it.

The only problem with a redshirt is if he is good enough in year 4, then he will go pro. Even if he doesn't start, you should still play him. You can reconcile not starting but still not redshirting. If we were talking 2 years ago, then I think he probably plays quite a bit. But, we will be playing mostly uperclassmen on the OL this year.

You just have to learn to appreciate the genius of their plan.
If you just be miserable and complain all the time, somehow, the results improve.

You guys having fun on here, rooting for your team and actually enjoying your hobby, pretty much costs us 10 points a game, Imo.

Do your part, bash some kids, stop being optimistic and we might just return to glory!

If I know Butch Jones like I think I know Butch Jones, Jack Jones will start even if he's much worse.
