Coach Gillespie: We hit it out of the park with 2017 RBs

Let's see if Gillespie knows running backs. He was one and a thorn in the vols side when he was! John Kelly is a perfect example of a guy who comes with the lunch pale attitude and has shown he will take you on his shoulders and carry the load. We'll see if he can coach up the speed guys like Chandler and promote the spread like Jones is trying to incorporate. :)

We did a good job with chandler I believe. Now if we would have gotten Akers alongside with Chandler, now that would be hitting it out of the park.

Count, you are one of my favorite posters on here! Me and you both agree that Jones is not the guy to take this program to the next level....period!

Count is my least favorite. He throws his ignorant opinions around like we care. Always negative. Probably a sad guy all around.

This is like a fly ball that got lost in the lights and the outfielders collided anyway.
I dont necessarily agree with this comparison, but thats a really funny line, and I need a good laugh today. Thx

Carlin fils aime looked pretty good last year when he got some carries . a 4 star back from floridA should get alot of carries this year. His tape looked great. Add chandler and we have a strong backfield. If they can hold onto the ball should be fine

That has to be that composite.
I checked rivals after I asked and they are 20th.

Just looked at Rivals and I think the issue is that Clemson's class of only 14 includes 3 5* (of which we have none) and 6 4* (of which we have 9 but that's out of 28 players)

Can a shrewd eye for talent make up the numbers? Don't know, but their class is the same % of 4-5* as we are of 3*. Actually, Stanford, OSU and AL are the only teams ranked higher that also have a higher per player rating.

Well to my earlier point there's what you say about recruiting AND they're national champions...so kinda 2 for 2

Just trying to figure it out using VN logic.
Had we won the east (which sucked, just ask) we would have had a top 10 class. Ergo Clemson wins the NC, top 2 class?

Bottom Line: we couldn't sell playing time for the first time in CBJs tenure. But, the next two years will be told by what we've recruited over the last 4 years and only need a few diamonds from this class. Need to produce on the field this year and hit another home run in recruiting next year.

This class is not a letdown but one that can't repeat itself. Keep in mind, this will be the first year we won't have to demand FR and SO to carry us in most positions.

It's ok that you didn't get the reference. Not being an IT guru and all.

Upon actually reading the post, I believe he specifically referred to the RB recruits.

But hey, I don't want to ruin your terrible day. Carry on. No reason to live and so forth.

I got the reference, the 80's era "hang up and listen" quote is more than a little played out by the Finebaum wannabe's like yourself on here though.

Oh my bad, the thread title specifically says Coach Gillespie and the RB's. Total misunderstanding on my part...I didn't realize you were using this thread to bash Butch in general.

Feel free to stretch out your orange and white cheer leading outfit over this quote from Gillespie all you want.

If you think today was a win for the Vols, you seriously need to look at what the rest of the SEC did today however.

What I was pointing out is that when ranking points are cumulative you can get some pretty severe quantity over quality issues. It's an extreme example but who signed the better class, team A or B?

A: 10 5* (50 pts)
B: 26 2* (52 pts)

Of the top 25 teams on Rivals the top 5 highest per player rankings are:

AL 4.11
OSU 4.1
Stanf 3.93
Clem 3.86
LSU 3.75

Anyway as Vol fans let's hope there's a solid number underrated players in our class.

Did Coach Gillespie hint that other than Kelly, we are woefully thin at RB, with his praise of these guys? It doesn't say much for Fils-Aime (sp) if he has the opinion that these two 3* are going to be needed this season.

GO VOLS!!!

And right now Tennessee is above Clemson on the Rivals team rankings.

Not much for grabbing sarcastic humor I'm guessing.
Meh, I still like you.

From the limited film I've seen, I tend to agree with Coach Gillespie. I saw some strength, toughness, moves, and speed out of a couple of these signees. Coach em up and schedule plenty of time with Coach Rock.
