I want to see EB in a Falcons Jersey

This guy on Reddit sounds like he knows what he's talking about

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.re...hise_tag_the_same_player_every/?client=safari

Below is what he said:

First year franchise tag:

120% of the previous year's salary, or average of the top 5 salaries of everyone else playing that position, whichever is higher. The "average" is actually a percentage of the cap. It's calculated as follows: Take the franchise tag amounts for the position for each of the previous 5 years, add them all up. Divide them by the sum of the salary cap totals for each of the previous 5 years. Multiply that by the salary cap for this year. So if the five previous franchise amounts were $10M, $11M, $12M, $13M, $14M and the salary caps were $100M, $105M, $110M, $120M, $130M, and this year's salary cap is $140M, it'd be (10+11+12+13+14)/(100+105+110+120+130) = 10.69% of $140M, or $14.86M.
Second year of the franchise tag:

Same thing. Unless the math gets really weird, the 120% increase is likely to be the higher amount.
Third year of the franchise tag:

An average of the top 5 salaries at the highest paid position (likely QB). So if a WR's tag amount is $12M, but a QB's tag amount is $20M, a WR tagged a 3rd time will get the $20M. OR 120% of the average of the 5 largest prior year salaries at his position (so 120% of the 5 biggest WR contracts from the year before, in this case). OR 144% of the player's previous year's salary. Whichever is highest.

There's nothing in the CBA saying they can't be tagged a 4th time. I would assume a 4th year would have the same rules as a 3rd, which means the cost at that point would be pretty outrageous.

Also, of minor note: The player can choose to take the 120/144% increase over the average of the salaries if he wants, even if the 120/144% increase is the lower amount. Why he would take less money I don't know, but it's an option for him. The team is required to offer the higher of the two, but the player can opt to take the lower amount.
Ya if they tag him he will get 13.8 or 13.2 it's one of those numbers... He has always been a homer though I doubt he leaves... Wherever he goes will be my new favorite NFL team... Two reasons I watch NFL is to learn some new X and O's and watch him ball out....

KC needs to keep him. He is a leader out there. Some people are glue guys and the impact of him leaving would be detrimental to that secondary....even though that D is loaded.

Agree they said through reports they are willing to pay.... He will look somewhere to get what he markets at other places so he can hike that price up but he will stay there.

Screw the Chiefs secondary, Titan Up baby. They were a secondary away from being a top team in the league. EB needs to come anchor that.

Hopefully he comes to titans, selfish reasoning. Chiefs are my favorite team and it's no coincidence that it's because of him. Wouldn't mind moving the titans from 2nd favorite to 1st. I do like most of the players on the chiefs. Peters, hill, Hali, Johnson, so on and so forth. So I'd miss that but would love getting to watch every game he plays in rather than just some. Love me some EB. Got all three black, white, and orange adidas jersey, Nike orange and white and red chiefs jersey. It'd be an added bonus if he wore 14 too. 29 is with Murray. And I dont think it's like college and they can have 2 with same number. 14 and to the titans !!!

Wont KC franchise him? Some guys on Titans board was talking about wanting him but most think no chance.

I think they will. The salary cap is always a question for any team, but keeping him should be a high priority. But there have been unexpected moves before.

I think he is staying in Kansas City and they will not re-sign Dontari Poe (DT). He is a future hall of famer so the Chiefs will be crazy not to tag him or re-sign him. His franchise tag will be around $13M in 2017 and that is a lot for safety.

I think EB for me is a little special just because I followed his recruitment so closely and watched every game and well he was an amazing Vol got two of his jerseys signed for me... Dude is awesome.

EB might also be my favorite Vol. I purchased a black Jersey before the Carolina game in 09 because there were rumors that the team would wear them. Of Course we all know they came out for warm-ups in all orange and then came out through the T with the black jerseys on and handed Spurrier and Carolina an A$$ whooping. I had good seats and had an absolute blast, even though it pretty much rained the whole game. Anyways, my friend worked with the training staff for the football team and said he might possibly get an opportunity to get an autograph on the Jersey. I wasn't expecting much but my friend comes back a week later and Eric freakin Berry has signed the Jersey. It's now my prized possession.

I hope he stays in KC. I've really become a Chiefs fan this year, with Manning having retired, and a lot of that has to do with Eric Berry. Game winning interception and score off of a 2 pt conversion pass. That was epic. Would hate to see Berry leave KC.

Plus there's the bar-b-que. I was hoping to go see a game next year. And get some bar-b-que while I was in town.

I live in KC and I can tell yall this. He stated yesterday he wants to resign with the Chiefs long term and retire here. The fans love him here. Clark Hunt has also stated they are working on a long term contract for Berry to stay in KC for the long haul. They will have the cap space after they cut Charles, Hali, Johnson and Poe. Don't expect Berry to go anywhere else. They are about to pay him handsomely. The players here gravitate towards him and he's the heart and soul of that Chiefs locker room.

They wont franchise tag him again. Chiefs did that this season. Smart business decision is to sign him to a long term deal. Beneficial for both party's (Berry and Chiefs).

And if they don't cut all of these players they will restructure their contracts to make cap space for Berry. Hali is getting up there in age, DJ has had to back to back seasons with archilles injuries, Charles has had multiple knee injuries and Poe is probably out the door with the emergence of Noches and Chris Jones. Plus poe has had issues with his back so the skeptism is there not to sign him long term. Berry will be back with the Chiefs. Bank on it.

The BBQ here is out of this world. If you're ever in town go to Gates, Joes Kansas City BBQ, Q39 or Jackstack BBQ. Arrowhead Stadium is also second to none in the NFL. Loud and the closest thing you will experience outside an SEC game (bias Vols fan). Tailgating at Chiefs Kingdom does not take a back seat to nobody. You can smell the BBQ inside the stadium from all the tailgating prior to the game.

With the rise of Noches (Nacho), I believe Poe is gone. Agree that Hali and Charles are probably gone too. I hope they keep Derrick Johnson. He deserves to retire a Chief and be in the ring of honor someday.

You said it best...EB is the Heart and Soul of the Chiefs.

I hope EB stays in KC. It would be much easier to cheer for him. Please never ever let him wear a Falcons jersey as a player.

If they can't agree on a contract(which I think they will), you can bet your ass they will franchise him. He's not playing anywhere but KC for the foreseeable future.

Yea I completely agree.... I want to see them snag Derrick Barnett... I think scheme wise he would fit... I could see him as a hybrid OLB/DE kinda guy.... They need se more youth from the OLB postion mainly speaking of Hali... They also need a QB and two more wide recievers and a mainstay at running back... I know Alex smith is a smooth quarterback he has really good mechanics but there is nothing eye popping about him... I just think ou have too many explosive players on that offense for them not to be able to be elite... I know I said they need WR's and a RB but the productivity should of been higher still with Hill on your team... Do you know how much they could do with a kid that runs a legit 4.2.... Smh.

I also think they would be crazy to let Poe go... Coaches literally have tape of Poe when they teach technique from a DT postion... Injuries might be a concern but I still think you ride that horse until he is dead... Then you trade him.
