They would look friggin amazing you guys would have enough to build two walls!
Im all for a national sales tax and NO income tax. Let the debates!
I don't have enough information to form an opinion on this. I hate it when people agree because I like reading the debates. The theory sounds great but there are pitfalls to every great ideal. This article points out some:
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/17/business/yourmoney/what-if-a-sales-tax-were-the-only-tax.html?_r=0
Excerpts:
Because low-earning people spend a bigger share of their income than high-earning people, the low earners' taxes would be relatively higher.
What? How does that make sense? People spend according to their wealth.
At the moment, homeowners can deduct interest they pay on their mortgages from their income taxes. Without an income tax, this subsidy, long seen as part of what made the American dream come true, would disappear.
Most people wind up taking the standard deduction so this doesn't hold true and even if it did it is still deducted from INCOME TAX anyway!
For example, a 25 percent tax might lead to prices that are about 15 percent higher. That means a product that sold for $100 would sell for $115, including the tax. The flip side, of course, is that businesses would receive less revenue. Instead of getting $100 for that sale, a business would collect $115 minus 25 percent, or $86. Yet its costs would be the same, and it would still be paying the same corporate income tax.
Would there be corporate income tax though or just corporate sales tax? This argument doesn't hold water either.
Nice try NY Leftist Times. Oh and they also when trying to figure out how the US would have to replace the income tax sum every year discount the savings of a far reduced IRS workforce.

Yea, those numbers don't make sense. A business isn't going to take less for their product. There going to charge the same and then add on the tax just like they do now for sales tax.
A sales tax like that would hurt my business. My business manufactures big ticket luxury type items that sale for an average of $250,000. In Tennessee the sales tax would already be approximately $17,600 add another $25,000 it could be a deal breaker.
As to corporate tax, if you make me purchase my raw materials taxable that will add additional money and severely increase the price of my end product. In Europe they have the VAT tax which items are taxed every step of the manufacturing process. This could hurt American businesses.
These are all many arguments for it in a nutshell. You would still have to have an IRS to collect and keep track of the sales tax coming in but it would be about 90% smaller. No worry about people hiding income, loopholes etc. Its too perfect to ever be instituted.
There are an estimated 15-20 million illegal immigrants in the USA. Is it that far fetched to think 3-5 Million voted in this election like Trump claimed? Especially with how big liberal cities often don't have strict voter laws because evidently it's racist...

I doubt someone who can afford such an item, now that they have no income tax will be too worried about the additional sales tax.
A national sales tax benefits the middle class more than anyone I get that but propagating the middle class is what strengthens this country.
