'17 VA DE Elijah Conliffe (Florida commit)

Think Bama would have to get told no by more than just Ray for Conliffe to pop back up on their radar, probably take at least one more.

Maybe. But I think the fact that taking Conliffe means he doesn't go to Tennessee will be a factor for Saban. If he loses Ray to UT I doubt he wants to see Conliffe go there too. JMO.

I doubt Conliffe gets the green light at Bama. That would mean they missed on multiple targets. Even if he does, it may not matter at that point. It means we have Ray in the fold and would have already sold the two of them on the possibilities.

Ehh, I guess it's possible but if they are definitely only taking two more there's no way they'd tell Solomon no just to keep Conliffe from going to UT. After that, I guess it might come down to whether they viewed Conliffe and Mathis as being equal and then I guess they might take Elijah's second choice into consideration.

I think if we land Ray, Coniffe ends up at Bama.

I do too. I just think if Bama loses Ray they'll take Conliffe and he's waiting for that opportunity.

5 consecutive posts without a "like" for Ron. The apocalypse is nigh.

Hampton (Va.) defensive tackle Elijah Conliffe plans to announce his commitment on January 31. The 6-foot-4, 305-pound prospect apparently already has a good idea of what school he will be picking barring any drastic changes in the next six days.

It sounds like Tennessee, who many believed was the leader, pushed for an answer from Conliffe as the Vols are extremely tight on numbers. The Vols apparently were not able to get Conliffe to tip his hand.

Conliffe is fresh off an official visit to Florida, which went rather well. The Gators, who did not join this recruitment until late December, came out feeling as if they had a legit shot to land his commitment. It wasn’t an ultra-confident feeling, but more of 50/50 chance.

Penn State head coach James Franklin goes in-home with Conliffe on Thursday. The Nittany Lions have room and certainly want to add Conliffe to the class. PSU’s view of this recruitment is unknown.

Louisville will get Conliffe’s final official visit. No buzz at this time points to the Cardinals being a serious threat.

Need to win these battles

We need to land some combo of Ray/Sterling/Conliffe. It would suck to miss out on all of them. I hope we will know more after Butch's visit with Ray, but it worries me about Conliffe. These will be the two battles to watch as we near NSD.

It stresses me out because I want them both to be Vols, but I tell you what boys I love this stuff. Lol

This situation doesn't sound promising to me. If we strike out on all three, that will really suck.
Conliffe is just being smart to let Franklin do his in-home, and then weigh his options and make the choice he feels is best for him.

It depends on how well Butch crafted and delivered his pitch to (a) meet Conliffe's key decision criteria and (b) beat what his competitors are pitching.

If you don't know his key decision criteria and what your competition is pitching, you're not in a good position to win.

Fwiw, the 247 crystal balls are favoring Tennessee pretty well.
