My thoughts too.

He was a QB in college, coached QB's for 5 years at North Texas...while he was the OC there. My guess is QB coach.

At most....Larry Scott is CO OC and Canales is co oc.

Seems to me that recruiting is a huge issue right now. Why hire a guy that will most likely have a minimal impact on recruiting? Just my opinion...

When UT beat North Texas 24-0 in 2015, I remember Jones completely bragging on Canales who was North Texas' interim coach at the time. I thought that day that Butch must have coached with him somewhere. I never thought he'd be at UT....

"Butch Jones' search for a quarterback coach continues. Jones has now interviewed four candidates in Chris Weinke, Mike Canalas, Kevin O'Connell, and Jeff Durden from Richmond...

The safe bet at this point looks to be Mike Canalas and if you were putting anyone as the favorite, Canalas would seem to be the choice. Canalas has the most college experience. He's worked with Larry Scott in the past as well. Canalas' experience at the D-1 level gives him a leg up on Durden, who many see as a really bright coach. And recruiting is a concern when it comes to the NFL guys. It's also why many NFL guys aren't interested in college jobs when they really look into them."

yeah it was alright. it was still pretty up and down alot when it mattered. Its predictable as any offense you will see though.
