Why is everyone proud of being disrespectful to referees?

I'm not proud of it, it was immature of me to spout off no matter how incompetent or unprofessional they were. It's frustrating when someone has so much power over you and wields it so poorly though. That's a lot of the frustration with some people and bad (not all, flamers) cops. Very little is as infuriating as someone with unilateral authority who chooses to abuse it.

I played in one bball game where 8 of our 14 players fouled out before the 4th quarter, and the other team had 5 fouls total. Not proud of the things I said that got me suspended, but it's hard to be sorry for it either lol

The University of Tennessee....

Can't run its own Hall of Fame.
Can't settle a lawsuit without it first becoming a national embarrassment.
Can't grow grass in our football stadium.
Wants people to call others Zher or Zhim
Wants people to refrain from saying Merry Christmas
Stripped the "lady" moniker from all of our women's teams except one.

99% of our wounds are self inflicted. And this goes to show you that sometimes the richest and most educated people on the planet are still people who can screw up a one car funeral. These idiots can't get out of their own way.

Preach on. The state of our university is sad. We have many proud alumni. You would think that the public servants and donors would want to make our university great, but that does not seem to be the case at all.

They don't believe athletics makes a university great. I promise you, the vast majority of the thousands of professors and administrators I worked with when I was in that industry ranged from neutral to outright hatred of the athletic programs. They resent that someone who coaches a silly game makes 10 times what one of the worldwide experts in early childhood education makes (for instance)
. And at almost every school, athletics takes away from academics as far as money goes (even at UT now, the AD isn't giving money to the school), so the culture in academia is not friendly toward athletics.

Bama isn't cranking out genius students or making breakthroughs in anything but sports. Most academicians think that's a bad thing.

They are happy with just making it theirs. I used to think it belonged to the citizenry of the State of Tennessee.

Silver lining for Butch....this cluster**** with AD is overshadowing his less than stellar recruiting class and the disappointing season on the field

Serious question: besides the optics, what are we missing by not naming a successor to Hart? How is it hurting us at this point?

Neuheisel and Childers just drilled Tennessee on the drive. Said hire Fulmer today. Neuheisel said there are "lifers" in UT's athletic administration that are the problem. That Tennessee needs to focus on fixing the football program as its 1st priority. Maybe this is what he was talking about that was holding Butch back before Bristol, these "lifers" strangling our program.

It's not so much that it's hurting us at the moment. It's that they should have hired someone months ago. They've known for almost a year that Hart and Cheek were gonna be forced out. It's been public knowledge for 6 months. It's becoming more of a circus each day and it's becoming more and more evident that they are gonna screw it up like they do everything else.

This. I just can imagine Blackburn going on to have a great career somewhere else.

Donna "Roz" Thomas: One of the "lifers" that's strangling our program.

Here's my thing: I think it's pretty obvious they're forcing Hart out. Seems likely to me they've come to some sort of an agreement and they're fine with taking their time and allowing him to continue to call the shots for the time being.

I get that this thing has taken a while and that's kind of annoying, but the freak out over it seems a little unwarranted to me. If Butch were to, you know, take a job somewhere else out of the blue or something crazy, we've got an AD in place to make a hire. It's not like we'd miss out on anything because we'd have to Scramble to hire an AD first

I never watch his show but I happened to be at home early today and I was flipping around when I saw this live. I thought the guy had a stroke or something live on air. It was rough.

That's what I thought, too, when hubs told me about it. I knew one of you morans would get the scoop. (not to be confused with soft serve ice cream scoops.) :)

Hope he's OK.

Hart is powerless at this point and him being there has nothing to do with our power people screwing this up.

Don't want Hart making those decisions anyway.

Yes, but most of these anecdotes are from children disrespecting adults. That is not something to be proud of. Even, if they are blatantly incompetent (which they often are).

I absolutely disagree. Just because a person is 17 doesn't mean they can't recognize gross incompetence, or worse deliberate corruption. As a matter of fact you could say it would indicate a extreme lack of situational awareness or intelligence for a 16-17 year old to not recognize it she they see it. If a ref is bent, or just incompetent, he deserves absolutely no respect. They should be held to the highest standard.
