A no brainer?

No one can ever give me anything tangible on why he's "the guy" except y'all think he's going to just snag us kids from One high school.

When your choices are Weinke and Canales it is. If we are talking OConnel then OConnel is the no brainer over those two

Lulz....at the people who have been saying the AD needs to be a UT man with orange blood running through their veins...then....Fulmer is a leading candidate....

Nope.....don't want him....he has no clue to what to do with the AD role...

I believe AD is as much fundraising and politics as anything else. We all know Fulmer can do that. Blackburn is my first choice but I'm not upset with Fulmer. He would have never hired Kiffin or Dooley. I would think the one thing he knows is Football

Yep. They act like being an AD required rocket science. Barry Alvarez doing just fine as Wisconsin.

Didn't someone state earlier that UTs greatest athletic ages are when a former/current UT HC is the AD?

I know i will get flamed but ive never seen on here what Blackburn has done to be everyone's champion. Can someone tell me what he has done at UTC to make him an SEC AD hone run other than being in the UT system?

Well okay then. Why the heck was he the ad at Bama then?

Battle sold his company. Battle is worth a lot more than $50 million. His son (Pat?) is running it. Battle's old roommate at Alabama was former Bama AD Mal Moore who passed away 2 (?) years or so ago. Mal recommended Bill to take his place at least until another AD could be hired. That is where we are.

Quick question. Would you have rather gone through four additional years with Fulmer as head coach...or kept the Kiffin/Dooley years?

Just his ties to Florida i guess. Canales' resume isn't very impressive

Would be interesting to see how Fulmer would handle the rest of the sports programs. Our track program is almost non existent, and women's basketball and baseball haven't been great lately. Baseball is a head scratcher, Serrano is proven winner.

While DB is my 1st choice, I'm ok with PF. I think both would be good for other sports. Both were here when our other sports were better. Ray Mears with Bernie & Ernie, track stars on football team, Pat Summit and Lady Vols, etc. Didn't PF have daughter on the softball team?

Neither.

I would have preferred to have a competent coach hired and not suffered through either of those scenarios.

Fulmer was way too loyal to his coaches. No way in hell he fires Holly. I dislike this idea

That's what concerns me as well. I'd much rather see Blackburn as AD and Fulmer as Special Advisor or some such position.

Me too, but I could go with PF as a 2ND choice. Maybe he learned from his mistakes? And if he did let Holly go, he would know from personal experience how not to do it.

Phil's undoing as a head coach was that he didn't manage his staff well. Two times Cutcliffe left. Both times Fulmer made a bad hire. The second time it cost him his job. I love Fulmer for all of the positive things he did here and all he stands for, but I'm not sure he's the guy I want making coaching hires.
