Believ he was a QB guru under Whitfield before that. He apparently has a big name in private QB coaching circles from his time helping Whitfield. Whitfield is a strong believer in him that he is going to be one of the best at any level. He would need to show he wants to be in college though cuz NFL teams will be calling each year

If hired watch for Feldman to make a nice recommendation for him. He is a big fan

Thank you. That makes me feel much better. Hopefully Butch gets this done quickly.

Only question would be how long he stays. Could be one of those guys that bolts after a year or two. If he agrees to a buyout then I would take that chance.

Or let him lay the groundwork for JG now, and we can deal with that problem in 2 years.

Totally with you on this, if he is all that, 2 yrs could be crucial with the newness and inexperience we have at QB..

Not having played football except for a couple years in middle school, I'm curious about how important upper body strength is for a DT (K Mack)? He tore a pectoral muscle or something like that, right? When I saw him on the sideline at MCB, I thought his upper body looked relatively small (compared to the rest of him). Just wondering if this will be a significant setback...I'd assume he can't do much upper body training for a while.

Lot's of questions and assumptions there...I'd appreciate any feedback from those who are more informed about these things!

Lower body strength even more important than upper body for explosion, but need strong upper as well. KMac has strength in spades; needs technique refinement.

Just playing devil's advocate here (disclaimer: I don't think any of what I'm about to post is accurate, merely suggesting that perhaps this is the mindset of some of the "experts"):

Maybe the NFL folks see Barnett similarly to how NBA folks looked (accurately, by the way) at Tyler Hansbrough. He was supremely gifted and borderline unstoppable in the college game, but they could see that it didn't translate at all to a projection of success in the NBA.

Again, I don't think this is the case, and think that Barnett will wreck some fools in the NFL (I submit his performances against Scherff and C. Robinson as exhibits A and B), but maybe this explains those who are ranking him lower than we'd expect.

Absolutely agree. Starting to feel good about our D for next year. Gotta hope KMack is 100% (and 10-15 lbs heavier imo) and Alexis Johnson and a couple other DTs can contribute. Anything we get from Shy next year is gravy. Need some LBs to step up and stay healthy and KP, Kongbo and Taylor to step up.

Ugh, after typing all that we still have a ton of question marks.

Anyone ever say for sure what Shy's injury was?

Right leg, MCL with a bone fracture at the knee is what I heard. Combined with the bad left leg injury he was really just getting over it is tough to see him being ready. How do you truly rehab one leg at a time? I hope they RS him and one or two other guys step up and fill the void. Totally agree on K-Mack. He needs to play at 320-325 lbs. for his skill set, which is power. So glad Rock is there to help all them get tougher and stronger. I'm expecting Vickers to be beastly after his time with Rock.
