SIAP, Dan Wolken trolling.

JG's plane has been in a holding pattern over Knoxville since Butch was hired. It is constantly refueled by the Air Force midair refuelers. His "appearances" at games and on television have been holographic Grudens projected from his plane through a series of satellites in space to strategically placed image producing receivers on the ground. My Uber driver told me about it the other day. His name was Antonio Bolognderas. TIFWIW. #bassethound

Dan is incredible. During the short period I was recruited by Tennessee he was the person recruiting me. He made every program better

He definitely made us a force on the DL and recruiting the Carolinas. Was a big loss for UT. Someone said on here that he was the perfect assistant coach. Spot on IMO.

Afternoon folks, hope all is well. Been off board for few months due to extreme work issues. Caught up to last few days, random thoughts:

Title IX is communist and sucks (Former college Track/CC guy here)
Holly is turrible, bless her heart.
RIP OH
This year is in no way reminiscent to 2012
I still have faith in Butch
Hire Blackburn already!
BasketVols will be good, Barnes is the man.
Carry on

D4H,

Perhaps you should start a thread for these daily/periodic updates. That way the majority at large doesn't have to read pages of opinion in regards to the validation of your player analysis unless they choose to do so?

That would not serve the purpose of being a troll! I use to think he was just a strange poster with off the wall opinions but leaving Barnett off his"list" can only mean he is a troll, nothing else..

Whole post sounded iffy till you named your source.

Brilliant

If your stock broker was losing money for you in a favorable market would you have to know for certain who the next guy was or would you fire him, put your money in the bank, and then find the next guy?

In short, if Jones is not meeting the standard then he should be fired. The replacement comes after.

However, there are guys I think UT should look at should that happen. One is James Franklin. Players love him and he's done more with less at two P5 programs now.

I don't know if UT can outbid VT for Fuentes but he would be at the top of my list.

I have always thought that Larry Fedora would be a great fit at UT.

If you want to take more risk but on a PROVEN winner then Scott Satterfield is someone who appears to have a pay day coming.

None of these guys require UT to empty the bank and all appear to be very talented guys with varying levels of risk.

If the boosters want low risk.... then they can pony up and go after one of the 8-10 guys who are elite and nearly sure thing coaches or try to pull an NFL HC back to college.

Oh, your example is fantastic. The real example is this. You have a stock broker who has improved your portfolio but is getting about a 5% return, which is improvement from the previous years and is making you money. He just hasn't gotten you to huge returns. It may not be quite to your liking as you are looking for a 10% return. So, you are at a point where you either stick with what you have and are pretty safe with some type of return or you take a chance with someone else. That new person might get you 10% or it could also go the opposite direction. It's a gamble.

I am sure you will find someone to argue it because this had been your soapbox since Butch was hired. To suggest that USC was less talented in 2013 is flat out laughable and dismisses everything else you suggest.

My comments on coaching changes are this - replacing known mediocrity with unknowns that are probably mediocre will probably result in same. If there is an ability to replace the departing with proven, better replacements that should be done since 9-4 and losing to Vandy are not the goals.

A HC that hires a proven, strong replacement at an important position such as DC with Shoop, should have been prepared to replace the entire D staff and change the system to what the DC had been successful in doing with other programs. That didn't happen, which means he placed unreasonable expectations on his new hire that backfired this past season. Somewhat like the S&C. If you believe you are doing well in S&C, why change out Lawson and not replace him with better as well as why start letting the inmates run the asylum? That never works. As many, including me, have repeatedly posted - what he does from here in hiring staff will determine if he is successful and stays beyond a year or two.

Shoop interviewed the entire defensive staff. May have thought that they could make it work...it didn't. Time to move on. Seems to be what is going to happen. Jmo

He had no choice in the matter per VFL friends. They may be wrong, but I doubt it. It ended up being half pregnant IMO. In my observations in practice he really built Shoop up in front of the players. He was very supportive. Maybe that and other things led to D-staff unrest.

Will see how it goes from here. Hope it works out.

Fulmer to AD?

"Hearing similar things today. How much traction? Not sure. But it doesn't seem to be the "no" that it was a couple of months ago. Compromise to DB. Fulmer is a Tennessee guy which I think is important. Could he get Blackburn to come with him as his number two.

Remember this, Fulmer and DiPeitro have worked together a lot the last year in fundraising so they know each other well."

Honestly I'm not sure how I feel about that

Fulmer would be good in a sense that he would no doubtt know what a football program needs to succeed. He has been through the grind that a lot of ADs havent.

Why would DB come back to UT to play second fiddle especially after he was told to go get experience (did and did well) and has been all but given the job for two months despite the few against him? If it's not him now it never will be.

I like Fulmer and always have but not sure this is a fit. Is he willing to be fired again if it goes poorly? The expectations are higher in today's sports world then in 2007 and the fans are less forgiving.

Fulmer would more less get the benefit of the doubt tho even if some of his decisions don't work out. Just because the love a lot of the fan base has for him.

Now as for DB, Pay raise and Knoxville>Nooga are the only pluses I see.
