Realistically: Can We Win 9 Games This Year With A New QB?

We would have to be very lucky to go 9-3. 7-5 is probably the most likely scenario imo

"Couldn't beat Florida with Manning. No way we stay on the field with them next year with this inexperienced kid"

"Fulmer blew his chance! Should have had TWO NC's with our greatest QB ever!"

"Cut cost Peyton the Heisman with that Jamal Lewis freshman crap. Should have been on the field day one! Fire this clown and get Nebraska's OC!"

"Let's face it. Fulmer has always been able to recruit, but we've always underachieved with him. It's not ever going to get better...wish I was wrong"

"Losing to Memphis State last year was a fireable offense! Get rid of this clown"

Heard and or read all of the above after 97...and much more. You guys didn't reinvent the wheel by making it even more circular. :shades:
Have no idea what you are talking about, but okay. The post i made is that the comparison between the 98 team and this one are nowhere near the same.

Absolutely.

JG will prove to be a phenomenon. Kelly will be Kamara part ll. Jennings will get 1100 yds, and our defense will be anchored by Shy, Kahlil, Phillips (Derek Barnett clone) and King Kongbo. Kirkland will mature into a Reuben Foster type player and TK,jr will be All SEC.

Why can't that lineup win 10 games next season?

Whole lot of hypotechicals to prove your point. Im not certain but i dont think thats how it works.

What makes you think Tuttle and KMac can play a full season? Phillips is nowhere near Barnett. Kelly is not as fast as Kamara.

We are starting a new QB and implementing new starters, so can we realistically even make it to 9 wins?

How much of a production drop do you guys expect if at all with a new QB?

How realistic is it to expect Butch to beat any sec west team next year?

How realistic is it that Tennessee beats Georgia and Florida again next year?

How realistic is it that Butch blows a couple games vs. G Tech, USC, Mizzou, or Vandy?

One of these things is not like the other.

Once you answer those you will have the answer.

The QB won't matter.

So, not likely.

We had a very potent offense BUT realistically this team can be a lot more balanced if we improve in the trenches. I think/hope we're going to be a lot better on defense and hopefully better along the offensive line. We'll definitely miss the improvisation of Dobbs and the explosiveness of Kamara but this can be a very solid team next year.

Butch can barely win 9 with a senior QB, why would you expect 9 with a first time starter? Lol.

Well, considering we started a new QB in '98 and won it all, theoretically yes. But I've seen nothing that convinces me that will be the case this coming year.

This will get someone fired...but don't think will be that bad. 8-4 low

I'm feeling 7-5 realistically.

Historically UT doesn't fire a coach until he drops to below 6-6.

We fired Fulmer at 5-7, and then fired Dooley at 5-7. I believe Fulmer was actually 4-7 though right before he was fired.

O'Bama seemed to have done ok with a freshman QB

This is the reason why a QB coach is so vital now. Dobbs is gone. He knew the system inside and out. Now, the next QB will have to be able to see what thew defense is giving him, audible or get the check from the sideline and execute the play. I think productivity will fall off due to this fact. Defenses will throw the house at whoever is back there for us, and try their best to confuse and disguise their looks.

Because, with our luck, half of them will be injured by game 2. :hi:

Come on guys, butch has inherited a dumpster fire in the 2017 season. We have to give him time. It is a 14 year process. Got to give him 10 more years.

<I can't find my blue font this morning>

The excuse for next year will be we are young and rebuilding because we lost so much from 2016.
