I think this offseason is going to suck in such a bad way. Last year it sucked, but in a good way...we were so anxious to get to the season where there was so much anticipation for a special year, lots of things to be optimistically looking forward to seeing, etc.

Now we've been a laughing stock for the past two months due to the (admittedly off base) reaction to the COL comments, ridiculed on a national basis for looking like fools in the OC search, we can't get out of our own damn way to hire an AD, recruiting is simply not up to snuff with prior years, and so on.

I know there will be ebbs and flows, but I'm really down about it today. I think there won't be nearly as much optimism to help get us through the long off-season.

Sorry if I talked anyone onto the ledge with this post but, like I said, I'm really down about it all today.

Tennessee interviewed former San Francisco 49er offensive assistant Kevin O'Connell today in Knoxville. He previously was with Cleveland.

This from his bio:

In 2015, O’Connell worked with QB Josh McCown, who became the first player in Browns franchise history to throw for 300-or-more yards in three consecutive games, as he eclipsed the mark in each game from Week 3 to Week 5 [341 vs. Oak. (9/27); 356 at SD (10/4); 457 at Bal. (10/11)]. McCown also set a career high and Browns single game record with 457 passing yards at Baltimore (10/11/15).

I am pulling for Clemson, for sure. It will be very tough for them to win, but I am still going with the upset

Clemson 34

Bama 26

Seems like we lose as many recruits to Clemson as Bama, maybe more. Hard to pull for either.

Meh. Its Bartoo.

If the offense had looked like absolute beyond repair trash for 2 years I might agree a little more. For me, he's earned a little bit of room to do what he sees fit rather than just chasing a "name".

Typically the no-names don't go to big programs and win titles. When is the last first-time coordinator to win a P5 conference? You're basically choosing a 2* over a 4* or 5* and bucking almost all of history that says the 5* is your best chance to succeed.

I have no idea what any of that has to do with you calling the Haskew info a bunch of garbage. You or I have no idea. But, you have gotten to the point where anything that is suggested from Butch Jones cannot be liked or truthful. So be it. But, I have no doubt that a powerless AD is causing some problems for him.

Not calling haskew info garbage. That looks like a exact post I saw last night from FF that person said wasn't inside info and just gathered from boards for one. It could be legit that Butch is saying those thing but I think it's just garbage from Butchs mouth not whoever Haskew is. That is what I am saying.

I'm not nearly as optimistic now as I was two minutes ago. Thanks man.

Pretty much how I feel. I think we can have a good team in 2017, though. But I won't be expecting to win the East. A good season will probably be 9-3 with a Citrus Bowl win.

Interesting name. I coukd be wrong but I think I have seen his name in past as someone thought of pretty well among QB coaches.

Edit: found what I was thinking of. It was when Browns hired Hue Jackson and brought in his own QB coach. Feldman was vouching for Koc and said he would be a great fit for NFL or College staffs and is highly regarded in private QB coaching world. I wonder if Helfrich put Butch and him in touch. Noticed KOC trained Mariota for the NFL draft

Hard not to be down about all of it.

Is it wrong that I imagine that every time you post, I imagine that you are on the verge of a massive panic attack?

Someone made the suggestion about you being the former VolLady poster we had. Sorry.

Ok. I will move on. It was info that I had not seen before and not even hinted at in pieces. I just don't think anyone can flat out dismiss it because we don't know. I do think that a lack of an AD is effecting Butch and his hires.

Been doing a lot of reading on here and no saying much. A lot of good info. Really confusing about the AD hire. I mean why do people have to make something harder than it really is. Get you a top 5 list , vet them, interview them, and narrow the list to Blackburn and lets get on with the hire. I do believe it is hurting recruiting i the sense that coaches are using the CJ may be gone once a AD is hired. And also in hire good asst coaches.

I am curious as to which QC you guys like to have? I do believe the hire needs to be a super good recruiter. Who do you guys think Shoop will want to replace the seems to be leaving D asst coaches? Ok I will hang up and won't listen.

Tony Elliott at Clemson last year.
