Lest We Forget

The Florida game was the most epic of games I have been to in nearly 20 years of attendance. What a complete and total polar opposite tales of two halves. 1st half sweltering and sweating out moonshine and reliving the sorrows of the past 12 years wondering when the streak would ever end. 2nd half shear and uttter jubilation and joy. My eyes litterally could not believe what they were seeing. My wrist hurt for a week of high fiving everyone I could reach in the stands during the second half of that game multiple times after each joyful moment. Over the span of a less than a quarter, we opened up a can of something rarely seen against any team, let alone a quality opponent which happened to be our nemesis. It was a good day. Good point OP.

No one has forgotten squat. Member'ing those days just make the vandy and uscjr losses hurt more. Something about first time to beat both and not win the East?

That being said, i enjoyed both wins immensely and began looking into Atlanta accommodations on 10/2. Boy was I in for a rude awakening.

I understand, but these two wins should not be dismissed or diminished by what took place after the defensive injuries and the Hurd Saga took their toll. These were two glorious days for Tennessee.

Sadly, there are some among us who choose to be miserable because their expectations were not met. They are so busy ripping into those they see as failures that they cannot acknowledge those who gave their all for Tennessee.

I know. There are literally people who post on this sight who would find a way to be negative no matter what.

"Tennessee wins 2017-18 CFP Final!"

Nega Vol: "But Butch still couldn't win the East last year."

I've stopped trying with that crowd.

The media and our own lofty expectations lead to our disappointment. I wouldn't trade the wins over Florida and Georgia for the losses to SC and Vandy for anything. I choose to enjoy the game for what it is, a game.

Problem is Butch and CO. haven been inconsistent the past two seasons. 2015 We start off slow and finish strong & 2016 is the exact opposite. The most frustrating thing is we had enough talent to reach ATL for those two seasons. Can we put it all together 2017? Not very optimistic ATP.

it is a sad sad day when the Vols are expected to lose to USCjr and Vandy in football.

Still just lamenting, huh?

We won't have to worry about that scenario because Butch will never win a championship.

which is exactly why i said i enjoyed them immensely. There wasn't a soul happier than me on either day. In fact, I had bammers, tigers, gators, bulldawgs, even folks that dont even care about CFB calling and texting to congratulate my team because they all know how excited I would be.

I truly believed for once we controlled our own destiny and could win the East. I saw a team that refused to lose for the first time in a decade. It was destiny!

Injuries and Jalen Turd be derned, we still should've beaten uscjr and candy. There is no list of excuses big enough for me to think otherwise.

Miserable is a word used by those who think they're trying to insult a negavol. No one is miserable over those losses. Some are angry, but most are just disappointed.

we can not give up on "that crowd" or the crowd or the in crowd. That's one of our problems....we have to find a way to take the commited ones from all crowds and become a part of Team 121. Of course, this is the off season, silly season and too much time till Sept.

BTW....a number of "that crowd" has been spot on, so don't hate on all of them.

My friend... If he can't even win a very down SEC East with the roster and expectations he had this year, how is he supposed to win it next year with a worse roster and a better SEC East?

Taps his heels, closes his eyes, cross his fingers and quote over and over, " there is no defense like Janceks, there is no defense like Janceks, there is no......"

We need a list in the preseason of all the people who say "if we just beat Florida I would be happy". So we can tar and feather them when they complain after we accomplish thier one task for the season.

I remember when I just wanted to compete for 4 quarters, then Dolley left. Buych is no Saban, but he is more than serviceable.

I loved those wins no doubt. This was to be Tennessee's year to make a run though. I can't blame Butch entirely though, we lost so many to injury. Just losing to Carolina and Vandy is a failure; hell I think Jones would tell you it's a failure.
