Larry Scott at OC might be what everyone secretly wants

My point is you can't say the East is weak to support your arguement that Butch sucks, and then say the SEC is some other animal to call plays in.

News flash: Outside of Bama, the SEC is trash.

You keep saying Georgia will improve next year. No way that's happening, it's only Smart's second year as a head coach.

See my point? You and some of your people like to pick arguements; set double standards.

Just sayin

and you and yours don't get caught wanting Butch here no matter what?

You have your opinions I have mine.

its not about wanting butch here no matter what. its about making a decision could turn out to be even worse situation than the "disaster 9 win season" that happened this year. again: this isn't a matter of butch here forever or not lol

Both situations could be disastrous. We can at least agree on that

i dont see a problem in it honestly, Butch will have Larry Scott on a short leash. Bring in Chris Weinke and you open up a door to IMG academy. im def ok with this.

Yeah, but I think CW is interviewing for the OC job, not the QB coaching job. One thing's for sure, he could fill both slots with one hire. I still say bringing Manning in as QB coach would be my dream come true, and he has blatantly said he would coach QBs at UT!

You act like it's as simple as 2+2.

Getting in rhythm and being productive is hard especially in the SEC.

I don't agree with you often, but you are dead on here. Play calling is an art, cut and dry. If you can't study film and know every tendency of the opponent's defense, you can only hope to call the right play at the right time. We don't have the luxury of out-athleting many teams.

Man, you all act like calling plays is some sort of magical God given talent handed down at birth. It's really just common sense with a little creativity. Scott will do a great job as OC

That easy huh? Man I sure missed the boat then. Just think, I could be an OC making 500k just like Debord because its that easy. Good lord man.

he said specifically in earlier post that it can be easier if you are very well prepared, studied and know how you are looking to attack the defense. no one said it was easy as cake. i think he was saying it isn't rocket science either...

Scott will do fine. hes spent the whole year in the booth with Debord learning defenses and learning things from him.

That's all I was getting at. Acting like anyone can put on a headset and make it at any level is silly. If it were everyone would be making bank

He made it seems easy as pie several times.

Hear me out.

So, while a large portion of posters believe they know what OC is "best" for our coaching staff and team, I have faith in Butch (Negas get off here). Debord worked out great as OC (see record book) but fans were increasingly disappointed in recruiting. Debord was not known as a recruiting powerhouse, but like his scheming and play calling, I think this was under appreciated.

At last, enter Larry Scott. Everything a state of Florida stargazer could wish for. Recruiting prowess drips from every word. However, he has no track record calling the plays. This worries me personally, but again I have faith in CBJ. But he could potentially bring in some real talent.

So just ask your self these questions: do I want a guy that everyone knows or a guy that works well with Butch? Do I want a known recruiter or a known play caller? No cheating, don't say both to each question because this is not madden. See AD and hotseat situation. Both situations don't have to be this way. AD could be hired ASAP and Butch should not even be considered for the hotseat.

We have a comedian.

Again, it is easy as pie, if you have done your prep. If you are a lazy goof then no, it is not so easy. I would think that Coach Scott, given his years of experience, would have little difficulty at all becoming the play caller.
Hell, anyone can call plays, just read through some of the game day threads on this site. Every Tom, Dick, and Harry is saying how they can do so much better than Coach XYZ.

Let me see if I get this correct......some of you are advocating for promoting a guy that has been a life long position coach with the only OC on his resume being a Co-OC for a HS in the early 2000s.

I like Larry Scott but I'm not sure we need to be his rookie try out on calling plays. I'd feel a whole lot better if he had some experience even if it was Div II. Not to say he could do it but that's a huge risk for a coach who's getting blasted on his past OC hire and his play calling

You have to wonder if Butch was forced to make such a call because of the mess up top. Not saying it's right or that I like the hire but at this point it is what it is and we're stuck
