Politics and power could kill The Vols

LOL...You realize that is the way it is supposed to be right? Football is a game, education is not.... Geez

Could be wrong, but I don't think he meant it the way you're spinning it.. That being said, much of what he's saying is true and it's a shame. With competent administration, you can have both..

Of course education is important...genius! It should be important at ANY academic institution! My point is...the CURRENT admin is more concerned with "Ivey League" academic prowess...not SEC/National Championships! That is FACT!

Thousands of half cocked fans taking to the streets to force the administration to hire someone they don't really know for a position they don't really understand. What could possibly go wrong?

May not be the best place to post it, but today on Doug Matthews show he said there are 2-3 serious candidates all of whom have UTK ties, although not all are UTK alums. Doug said one of the candidates is not being discussed in the media.

JB Cooter no doubt. Solves OC and QB coach

If given control and nice contract which Tennessee can afford... yes it may have been possible.

I'm trying to be kind here but JG is very content with his current gig. He can't be more clear than he's been about this. I have no choice but to believe you really are teasing because I don't want to think about the other possibilities if you truly believe he had ANY intention of being our coach. Just never was even a slim chance.

Guys....OP is spot on. It took me some time to really look/analysis our situation...but that's exactly what's going on! Fans need to see/recognize this! Thing at UT athletics are about to be on a huge downward spiral thanks to the "powers that be" in administration. It absolutely sickens me that fans and alumni are standing around and letting this happen. I haven't missed a game since 1988...but if the admin is not committed to winning....we're doomed! You don't have this academic/athletics tug a war happening at Bama,LSU,AU,etc. It's such a shame because the football program is and has been the face of the university. Now we have an admin that is far more interested in academic prowess than anything that takes place on a football field...and people that's the truth. It's happening right before our eyes! Fans, alumni, boosters, and former players need to wake up...and IN A HURRY!!!

Unfortunately I believe this is true. It doesn't take much besides opening your eyes to see this.

Sad, really sad.

And your documentable proof or again, gtfo. Guyz you get on here blowing smoke as if you know. Without proof ...phuut.

And the dumbest..dumbest thing anyone can say on here is..

"Trust Me".

ha ha ha ha ha

The closest the papers reported (some Chatanooga reporter as I recall was they came to agreement about Gruden's pay for which he would have come, but said no to his total $$$$$$ request for the assistants but you will not find that online. Everything you read says he just did not want the job.

Don't think if they "back a big enough truck full of money to his door, anyone will take the job. Al thst does is make it really really hard to turn down. Especially if you like where you are and were getting $6.5 million per year.

10 Highest Paid Sports Announcers ? MaxWrapUp

For Monday Night Football last season...

..."John Gruden is the highest paid sports announcer in the world with an annual salary of $6.5 Million, according to USAToday"...

Don't know what it was during the search but Tennessee was not going to go there AND IF TRUE also for the assistants.

Charlie Anderson would have to be one.

I'd reckon one or two others last name begins with an H.

Guys with their names on the buildings over at UT.

And probably Raja. I've only heard conjecture, so it's hard to know if everyone over there is pulling the cart in the same direction or if there's really a power struggle over DB and how much of a role the new chancellor will really have.

Apparently, about 3 powerful people, don't want David Blackburn because he wont be a puppet and do as told by these Big Booster Board Members. The longer this plays out the more damage its doing. 98% of those within the situation know DB is the hands down choice for the Tenn AD spot but these few don't want him till he agrees to do things their way, you know, like they do in Cleveland... Time for fans and media to raise a grassroots groundswell for David Blackburn.. Hard to go get a splash hire at OC without an AD to ok the funds..

:hi:The problem with UT athletics starts at the top with the Chancellor...Unfortunately we do not have a Dr. Joe Johnston anymore. Listen to Doug Mathews sometime and follow what he says about the UT administration. Chancellor Cheek was a total jerk which is a major part of why we are at today. Unfortunately, we are going to pay him thousands to return to teaching when he really should be sent back to Florida as "Gator food"!!!!!:clapping:The new lady incoming Chancellor "ain't" going to cut it either. Hopefully the UT president with advice from Phil Fulmer will go ahead and hire Blackburn...return to the Lady Vols logo and move on.

This..

He speculated. I guess that now requires 'proof'. Only on VolNation.....

What's funny to me is, technically his "proof" was in his own post demanding proof or to "gtfo'.
