Larry Scott at OC might be what everyone secretly wants

4 years was enough to win the east and all would be forgiven. The Vandy and SC losses are the reasons why a lot of people believe Butch isn't any better than he is now.

Unfortunately i agree he'll be here for the time you stated but can't we agree that it's weird that Butch isn't lobbying for Blackburn? I'd love to hear his reasoning

As to the first part of your comment I have no answer. It is what it is. Crap happens. I wish it didn't, but we all know about wishes.
To your second point I would say that maybe Butch doesn't know Blackburn as well as he does Gilbert. We all want Blackburn because we think he will be great, but Jones and others may just be comfortable with what they know.
I have no inside knowledge of any of this, just random speculation. Good day.

Calling plays is not that freaking hard man! This guy isn't performing open heart surgery for the first time with no formal training. Can he remember plays? Can he read? Can he gameplan with the offensive staff? I think so. If its 3rd and inches should he throw the bomb? I think he would run a qb sneak or hb dive. It's not that freaking hard dude

He'd prolly call a sweep to Byrd honestly.

He was HC for the U, and ended up with a winning record! He is very highly thought of. We were lucky to land him. He is probably the best recruiter on our team, and I would put him up there with Shoop as far as coaching is concerned. Butch made a serious upgrade on his staff when he hired him. He can handle calling plays lol...

So he won games as an interim HC. He also had Coley as his OC. None of what you just said means he can handle calling plays. Hopefully he can get the job done. But if Scott is truly the best we can do, then thats just sad imo.

Probably closer to he's more comfortable with Golbert and Scott. I would hope to think that he didn't want Blackburn because he's afraid he'd finally be held to a standard of some kind

well if the admin is a joke and shambles, no big shot name will want to get on a ship with no real captain (athletic dept as a whole). i'd also bet that butch and barnes are privy to more info on blackburn than us piddly folk volnation. i've never seen either coach openly talk against blackburn so there's also that...

A head coach coming out publicly against his potential boss.
That would be a bold move

The offense was fine because it had a 4 year starting dynamic QB, two NFL caliber RBs, two playmakers at WR, and a draft pick quality TE that we ignored for most of the season. we have two of those pieces coming back and the savior is a guy who's never taken a snap in CFB. The only thing you could say DeBord improved was the line play, and until we kick off against GT we won't know if he actually improved it or if it was Dobbs running ability which neutralized the pass rush threat.

see this is what i'm talking about earlier.... you totally disregard anything but what you think proves your point. the fact is, scott is regarded for his football iq and ability to teach. what do you say to that?

I didn't want to prove anything.
He knows football but what exactly did his group
(TEs) that was great?

Man, you all act like calling plays is some sort of magical God given talent handed down at birth. It's really just common sense with a little creativity. Scott will do a great job as OC

You act like it's as simple as 2+2.

Getting in rhythm and being productive is hard especially in the SEC.

jesus man he has been here 1 year. every place he's been, he's succeeded and produced. i mean clive walford ended up being a 3rd round pick and starter for the raiders and scott was only in miami for 3 years

Read on here, so it IS specualtion, that Blackburn is not Butch's biggest fan.. IF true, that would explain why Butch wouldn't want him as AD..

Don't remember what thread it was in or who said it..

Not necessarily. They don't have to make a public statement (which would be extremely stupid) for it to still be true.

I don't know where some of the posters here got their info from. Really don't care.

I'm pretty confident in both of mine.

Would it be that big of a stretch that Jones or Barnes wants a guy they have already worked with?

Your right he's been here one year and I'm suppose to believe he gets the offense more than CZA?

All I am saying is there's more to it than his football mind
