Get real guys!

You can have patience. I ll stick with him being a mediocre coach that can't win a bad division.

He wasn't winning the conference with everyone available an in their right mind.

Who is "he" (He wasn't winning the conference with everyone available). Phil Fulmer??

Butch. change any number of things that happened in the last 4 minutes of the Fl game in 2015, and beat USCe and Vandy this year, and he's won back to back East titles, and we're not having any of these discussions.

no, the memories are just fine. it's just a matter of where you find yourself in a given season. and there's no debating the position we had in front of us in both of the last two years. context still matters in a given season.

you beat FL and GA in the same season, there's no reason not to expect to win the East THAT year, no matter what year you're in, in your tenure.

Not true. Those are still SEC teams we lost to. Hurd really hurt us in SC game. Vandy game = stuff happens. Hopefully TN does good this year. I am sure you will have something to fuss about.

really? that's what it boils down to? just oh well, lost the east again, "stuff happens"?

USCe was a 3 win team when we lost to them. Vandy a 5 win team.

you did the heavy lifting already, slayed the FL dragon, started a win streak against UGA.....

oh well..."stuff happened"

I have complete confidence the legions of the miserable would find plenty to ***** about.

Unfortunately SEC teams lose to SEC teams on the road. Maybe Dobbs shouldn't have studied for his final?

i'm not miserable, nor am i part of a legion. but i'm not blind either. there's a lot i like about butch and what he's done for our program.

there's a lot i don't like too, and over a long enough time line, the stuff i don't like, if not changed, will eventually trump the good he was able to do.

you can pre-sell the product when your a start up. and he's proven to be more than adequate in that regard. but eventually, if the product doesn't match the pitch...you got problems.

and it may just simply be, Butch is a great start up guy. no sin in that.

the job just doesn't end there. so we find ourselves where we are. and to boot, there's absolutely no support or leadership administratively, so it's REALLY all up to him at this point.

I hate this holier than thou crap. Most fans don't expect to win an SEC championship every year. What we want is a coach we can be proud of. We get pissed at Butch because he finds ways to squander what should be a talented team and underachieve. We had the East won, then we lost to South Carolina and Vandy, two teams we should have beaten the crap out of. He recruits talent, but he has problems developing that talent. If mediocrity makes you happy, then by all means, enjoy it, but don't expect other Tennessee fans to accept mediocrity as a given. We can be great, but if you don't expect greatness, you'll never achieve it.

FYP x 2

notice how none of the usual jabronies replied to yours or my post about historical championship data.... they just like to focus in on 1 sentence and run with it to fit their agenda. truly remarkable skill to have lol

And they claim that they're realists lol

yeah, take 100 years of football, and use that win % as a reference to just how it should be all the time.

that's realistic. nothing ever changed in 100 years of football. schedules remained the same, # of games, bowl qualifications, opponents, how you determine conf and national champions.

careful, that's how Bama wound up with 12,123 national championships.

and you're not allowed to take the context of a given season and talk about it for what it was.

today....40 bowls. 12 game regular seasons. title games. playoff. yep, it's exactly the same and we should just be happy with 8 win regular seasons, because that's what 100 years of history says we are.

:good!:

I'm not sure what you speak of but I'm pretty sure it dosent have anything to do with my point.

I don't think Butch had "everyone available" unless everyone available was JRM, Sutton, Tuttle, KMac, Berry, Hurd, OBrien not being available.

I know he didn't. I'm saying he dont win the conference regardless which was what you posted directly above that.

He will win the SEC. Have some patience. Unfortunately this year we lost our Defensive Tackles, Linebackers, star Corner Back and our "star" running back turned out to be a fruit loop.

Unfortunately this year he wouldn't have won with everyone healthy.

I'm in the minority thinking Jones beats Saban to win the SEC this year with a healthy roster?

I thought you said he was a mediocre coach who couldn't win the division - I thought you meant the East. So you agree with a healthy roster he would have beat Vandy and SC?
