Thank God it helped keep her out. Maybe it's good for something. Maybe it has a better impact than you think. If they get hurt over social media and don't wanna be here then fine. Al Wilson wouldn't of cared what Facebook had to say. That's the type of "football" players we need to come here.

My comment is that folks who say that "VN has no impact" are delusional. While CBJ may not give AF, his boss and his boss' boss use VN to gauge the health of the program. As do recruits, media, and others doing "research" on the state of affairs at Tennessee.

VN Lives Matter.

I am so tired of all of the "blah blah blah this is historically a mediocre program blah blah blah we should only except 8-9 wins ever" posts.

We are Tennessee. Not Vanderbilt.

I have it on good authority that recruits also use their eyes on fall Saturdays, to gauge the state of affairs at UT. I'm not an insider.

that Butch is content to stay here for a long time! Yes I said it! So many of you want/expect him to fall on his face! The fact is this University is an absolute mess from an administrative standpoint...and guess what...it ALL STARTS THERE! So if/when Butch is shown the door don't expect for there to be an endless line of high profile coaches to come knocking! We should know this by now! So for those of who who want nothing more than for Butch and Co. to get shown the door...you better be careful what you wish for! Volnation for the most part has developed into one massive NEGAFAN hotbed...and that's unfortunate. Fans see it, players see it, and recruits see it. If you don't think that it matters...you're delusional! Volnation has become poisonous cancer to this program! For those of you who want to defend this notion..really?? 80% of the threads on here are negative condescending threads and posts about Butch and Co....don't pretend otherwise! Many of you need to grow up..develop a reasonable football IQ...or GET THE HE.. OUT! So many of you (not all of course) are clueless as to the nuts and bolts that make up a quality football program..and you take for granted what we finally building again.
Somewhere along the way we changed our perception of "student-athlete" to "athlete-student". Wrong! Butch is doing it right.

This is an opinion board, nothing more; nothing less and everyone is entitled to theirs. Get off your soapbox and sit down.

Some are conditioned to accept mediocrity. Participation trophies for 8th place in little league or a ribbon for finishing the 10 yard dog paddle make it easier to accept. Some are more demanding.

GO BIG ORANGE!

Why wouldn't they accept it? Maybe the popular vote says we are world beaters but the electoral college says we're mediocre. Accept it. When you have one national championship in fifty years and a few conference championships in the same span, you're slightly better than mediocre. This is our team.

I'm pretty critical of Jones but I don't get not wanting him here if he is successful. Isn't that the goal? To be successful?

What do you define as successful? Or what does he define as successful? He has been no help to getting this program back on track in 4 years trying. Slightly over .500 win percentage is not good enough (not successful). I define successful as competing for the SEC and NC every year as Bama is doing. as Ohio St. is doing. As Clemson is now doing. That is the level an elite program wants to maintain. A good coach can get there pretty quickly. Jones has shown he can't. And next year will be another rebuilding year....

The mere fact that some of you are happy with middle of the road BS is laughable.

"Doesent matter who Tennessee loses to as long as they're above .500"
"Support Jones even though he's never beaten Muschamp and .500 against Vandy"
"At least we went to a bowl"

At some point you have to realize people's ceilings. Butch is a 7-9 win guy. I'd hope you'd want more than that as most Tennessee fans do

Since we have one of the worse administration in CFB, and they don't seem to care maybe CBJ should move on to a "better fit" and fans start holding their $. UT isn't listening to voice. Let your $ be the voice. They have shown to be committed to mediocre for a decade. Open your eyes investors!!!

I'm not defending Jones or arguing that he has been successful. I'm addressing your comment that you don't want him here "successful or not". I interpret that as saying you would want him gone even if he went on a Saban-like run. That just comes across as blind hatred but maybe I read it wrong. It's early and I haven't had my required allotment of coffee.

Dude said he didn't want him here successful or not.
I'm not arguing that Jones has been or will be successful.
I just don't understand not wanting him here if he did start winning championships.

Clinton underestimated the impact of social media and blogs on the attitude of the electorate.

Perhaps you are also underestimating its impact on the administration. Where else can they get free polling?

They don't seem to give an ish about our fans and social media with respects to hiring an AD.

Well hell that doesn't make any sense then.
We'd all want Jones to get a lifetime contract if gets multiple championships

VN Lives Matter.

If his Boss or Boss' Boss uses a forum where any 15 year old who just finished winning a championship on Xbox to an 80 year old who is going to tell us how it was "in my day" can post, to gauge the state of the program, or the state of anything for that matter..........this program is in a world of hurt. I think some of our members really think highly of themselves. So high that they truly want to believe their words on a forum affect the decisions of a major collegiate athletic department, coaches, recruits, and the media. Well, considering the quality of media reports these days, I can believe that one. How about using a metric like seasonal attendance? How about the attendance at the MCB? Recruiting doesn't seem to be impacted too poorly. This forum is exactly what it is. A place for fans to come vent, praise, and/or debate what they "think" the direction of the program should be.

The typical

"It dont matter if my wife is cheating on me, I may not do better and I cant be alone"

Thread

Nailed it. Pretty soon the guy starts asking his wife to at least hold up appearances in front of his parents, etc.

Just keep lowering the bar.

Oh, i see the problem now. What you want( and I would love) Ut to do is go out and get a great x and o coach who is also a recruiting machine and motivator of men. Sadly the people at Ut that actually get to make those choices for us either don't want that or are not willing to pay for it.

Think of it this way. If Ut fired Jones today who would they hire. A-Chip Kelley B-Mike Sanford Jr.
