wasn't a troll job. Butch decided not a fit and Helfrich may very well agreed with Butch.. Helfrich doesn't need a job so he can be very picky. Butch doesn't want anyone unless they fit his comfort level. Helfrich didn't

I would go hire Herb Hand from Auburn to be OC/OL coach.

If you get him, you can't keep Mahoney, but you then go after a QB coach.

So basically Butch won't hire any offensive minded coach that will come in with their own style/playbook?

Do you think Butch is running out of resources? No OC is gonna play puppet for Butch.

oh no. He has Scott if he can't get anyone else. Scott would do it. So I would say he is not running out of resources.

What do you mean by "Scott would do it"?
Are the other staff members passing on that offer?
Wouldn't Azzani be the "better fit"? Scott's last offensive coordinator job was for a High School team.
Scott has to be the very bottom on Butchs list. And if he can't get someone else, there has to be some sort of red flag with Butch. Tennessee is a premier job. I feel like Butch wants too much control over the offense.

oh no. Z would love it. It just seem if it stays in hosue Scott is the favorite, and he is not at the bottom of his list.

Butch would probably disagree with your feeling on his control

First in another post you made you said Butch felt Helfrich not right fit. I have a feeling "not right fit" really meant Butch wanted him, but he could not get Helfrich the money he wanted which all comes back to not having an A.D. in place. :thud:

Second how is Scott qualified to be an SEC O.C.? He should not be on that list at all imo.

Part of the job description for most OCs is conforming to the vision of the boss. See Lane Kiffin for the latest example.

If Scott is favorite, then Butch must get a feeling he might not stick around.. so you go ahead and promote him somehow. Coach Z sounds as if he's leaving then. Maybe to follow DeBord? Don't know. There's no other reason to put Scott in front of Z if you are choosing in house.
