Still a lot of unknowns with Scott.
TE didn't exactly set the world on fire this season
Unknowns with most of the candidates.
Helfrich did not call plays under Kelly, and I don't think he's a candidate. Other names are NFL position coaches. Bo Hardegree?
I'd love Tee Martin as I loathe this offense, and prefer UT get back to a pro style offense. But, I realize that's not happening, and that itself speaks poorly of Butch.
I even heard Randy Sanders. Come on. He's definitely a better coach now, but no way is he taking a hot seat job, and FSU is a better gig.
Brent Hubbs has been on the radio all the way to work this morning he says the following:
1) Helfrich is not a very realistic option at this point.
2) Larry Scott is the leading candidate in house.
3) The downside to "in house" is that the Vols lost Nick Sheridan the de facto QB coach and needs a QB coach. Can they hire both an OC and a QB coach or do they need it as a package. If they want one guy, Scott is not it.
4) Rock Gullickson from the NFL/Rams will be hired this week as SC coach. Good hire.
Yeah, I got lectured recently about the.positive view on everything. Can wait to see the positive spin on this if it does happen.
Oh,you can count on it.
Jones will tell us all that "fit" is more important than a name. (Meaning someone willing to adopt his system no questions asked)
Then we will get the generic lecture about relationships and how we need someone who appreciates what a "special" place Tennessee is. Then he will address the faction of the fanbase who wanted a big name hire in a condescending manner. In a gentle rant filled with snide and sarcastic remarks, he will explain just how silly we are and know nothing of the process of winning.
Then he will introduce last season's water boy as the new OC.
Then prepare yourself for an entire off season of Butch apologists defending his decision and echoing his press conference here on VN.
Uhhhhhhh so have you just not been following ESPN/college football for the last week?
Could have sworn that we almost beat 2 or the 4 playoff teams last year with this offense? Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm wrong about how many points we scored in 2014 when Dobbs came into the game in the 2nd quarter and we scored points. Had Bama not had that huge 1st quarter we could have won. They had trouble with out offense. It works and it's not even debatable.
You would've noticed that Saban didn't bring Sark into his system until this past fall....and he did it because he had NO INTENTION of renewing Lame's contract...
So--actually.......Saban DID bring Sark in from outside his system.
