If Helfrich doesn't come...

I don't know the details but I don't think Debord would just up and leave without letting Butch know in advance and allow him time to arrange a replacement. Assuming of course that the move was Debords decision, which I don't think it was. The new OC is already decided upon and it's probably just a matter of contract details right now.
You're a damn mind reader Hoss lol. I was thinking the same thing.

Rumors created by UT fans. If Helfrich said he wanted the job that's one thing. But the BS you're hearing is just that...RUMOR!

If it was rumor then TN or Helfrich should have killed the rumor before Debord announced.

Here we go. This is the EXACT same thing said back in '12 with Grudemania!

Maybe the coaches and admin are busy doing their jobs instead of squelching rumors on chat boards.

Can't imagine Helfrich working for Jones after what happened on Sept 14, 2013. But you never know.

Good point. Should have learned a lesson. But it is more than chat rooms on the dark web - on radio, news articles, etc. I am thinking it will be Azzani.

Dave Hart was asked point blank if Gruden was ever a serious consideration and he said no. Did that stop the Keyboard Crazys?

As long as it's not Azzani...

Altho who knows, he may be a decent OC and we can get a better WR coach.

Dude has literally done the best job he could possibly do given the inability to have a consistent passer at QB.... I don't understand the hate for ZA.... He Is solid.

This will be Butchs make or break hire, if it is just a yes man Butch will not make it here. Fulmers hire got him fired and maybe because he wouldn't let go of the reigns.

Fulmer let go of the reigns with Clawson. And by halftime of the UCLA game, he had to pound Clawson into running the ball which got us to overtime....

I dont understand the Helfrich love.
There are better options out there. I don't think he's a candidate

That game would be part of the reason I'd want Helfrich if I'm Butch. The man knows how to run a top of the line Offense

You mean Chip Kelly does........at the college level.......Helfrich's team did nothing this season......remember? He was fired.........

Not going to bash him for his WRs staying hurt, but let's be honest Malone was the only guy to ever step up consistently and make plays. The star studded WRs have been average since his arrival. The guys not horrible at all, at you make a point about a true downfield threat at QB hurting his case, but I'm tired of the WRs not knowing how to block or be consistent.

This is listed on way more than just a couple message boards. No one is saying it's a done deal but acting like it's not a realistic possibility is just asinine.

Are coaches/schools talking about it? No, but that NEVER happens. When is the last time a school sent a press release regarding who it is courting for a coaching spot? Message boards and media are the only outlets for this type of news.

CBJ had said earlier that there would be staff shuffling. I think DeBord was thinking of retiring or going to football operations or something like that. But if you are offered a job to be closer to your family and family at that time is important, you take it.

The snag with Helfrich is Chip Kelly. Right now, I think Butch has to make some sort of power move..

And I think the power move was done today or yesterday. I think Butch told DeBord/Indiana to go ahead an announce it. Think about it... if Helfrich agrees to just QB, that's less money.. then DeBord steps down and have an interim type OC.

An OC job is better than a QB job. So now it's not just Helfrich as a candidate. It's Helfrich and others. The time clock is ticking for Helfrich now. He can take it or wait for Chip Kelly.. but Butch won't allow that.
