That could be two of your top 5 teams next preseason.

Here's my guess for the preseason top 10 next year:

1. Alabama
2. USC
3. Florida State
4. Ohio State
5. Oklahoma
6. Clemson
7. Penn State
8. Washington
9. Michigan
10. Georgia

Expect UGA to be the overhyped team of the off-season that falls flat on its face in the fall.

Give Helfrich anything he wants to come here! Would be a Yuuuge hire!

Now that we know Debord is leaving, we will also need (presumebly, if we fire Mahoney) an Oline coach. Anyone know of any good names to look at?

Don't think Mahoney gets fired. Think only Martinez and Thig (maybe) get fired and Strip retires/takes another position.

Guis Guis... Chip Kelly is open to be an OC. Hire CK as CoOC with Helfrich as Helfrich the OC after CK takes another job in one or two years. 👀👀

CBJ took over a dumpster fire and has also won 9 games twice and is 3-0 in bowl games.

Saban is the most boring, bland, cliche coach in college football.

Wow!

Saban is a lot of things--but boring, bland, and cliche is definitely NOT words I'd use to describe him.....and you left out Elite, Championship-winning coach.....

I don't hate CBJ.....I REALLY, REALLY wanted him to be the guy because I like his story and like his ability to motivate.......and I'm not making an emotional or knee-jerk reaction to his performances so far.....

You shared YOUR OPINION of what THE EVIDENCE says to this point.....

My opinion is that THE EVIDENCE to this point seems to suggest that we have more of a Jim Donnan than a Dabo Swinney with Butch.....

Either way--next year is his 5th year---Donnan went 8-4 in year 5 at UGA...2nd in the SEC East....and was shown the door.....and the SEC East was MUCH tougher in those days than it is at the present time....

Dabo went 11-2, won his division in the ACC, and beat LSU in his bowl game....

If CBJ goes 8-4 next year---and finishes 2nd in the SEC East....I'd show him the door.....

I thought reports were that Mahoney was not extended, and therefore already on the way out. Makes no sense to keep him just because DeBo is gone. Hire a new OC and let him have a say in the OL coach.

Plus I think we can do better anyway.

I just wonder if Scott or CRG get a shot at OC/CO-OC?

Brad Kaaya and Jarod Evans are going to declare.

And just like that, the 2017 QB class is better. I like both but I think Jerod Evans has more potential.

Here's my top 5 QBs for the 2017 Draft as of now:

1. Josh Dobbs
2. Deshaun Watson
3. Deshone Kizer
4. Jerod Evans
5. Brad Kaaya

Some names to look at are obviously Larry Scott, Mark Helfrich and Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich. I think Butch will also look at some quarterback coaches in the NFL to possibly be the OC.

Gang, I'm trying to look at the silver lining of this past, less achievement than expected, season. We all know that two obvious factors that hurt were the rash of injuries and the lack of unity created by the Hurd situation. So let's assume they did not happen and they were 10-3 heading into the Sugar Bowl. Would Butch be as willing as he is reported and assumed to be to make changes in the S&C and coaching deficiencies? Add in a new AD's impression of same.

We may have been better off for this happening now rather than a year from now if a performance downturn was probably going to happen in 2017 due to players leaving for the pros and graduating. I know of very few people that want Butch fired at this stage and the program sure does not need it happen at this point. They are just doubting whether he is the long term solution. If he changes that perception with some strong hires now, he could pull this out and go on to bigger and better. Thoughts?

Hard to say. We had problems beyond injuries and the Hurd situation was there before this season. Hurd was never popular and not a team leader, and the offense didn't miss a beat when he sat out the aTm game.

The team started slow, played flat and appeared unprepared from game 1, which likely would have been a L if not for Hurd's fumble recovery in the end zone. There were problems before the injuries started to mount up. Perhaps fresh eyes and new perspectives will be what the team needs. Certainly, the Team 121 dynamic will be different with so many team leaders moving on.

I believe it was Austin Price on VQ who said the other day Butch can hire new staff without a new AD.

I would think that it would depend upon the compensation packages offered to the new folks. More money to Assts would require an AD in place to work it, IMO.

I think you missed his point about Saban.

It doesn't make him any less of an all time great, but when he isn't on one of his maniacal tirades, he is as bland as a roll of Valu-Time paper towels. His only human trait is that he likes Oatmeal Cream Pies. That's it.

If he wanted to retire to Indiana and has the chance to be OC there, then I reckon that's a win win for him. I thought he was expected to retire tho?

I'm a bit perplexed by this TBH!!
