What makes you think Washington will get in over USC next year?

Washington are frauds. Pac 12 is USC's in 2017.

Here is my early playoff prediction:

1. Florida State
2. USC
3. Tennessee
4. Ohio State or Oklahoma

I said that about a month ago. He's the best pro prospect at QB alongside Dobbs IMO.

He's Matt Stafford 2.0.

Can't take you seriously with statements like these.

CBJ took over a dumpster fire and has also won 9 games twice and is 3-0 in bowl games. Sooooo....hmmmm. Look, the point was not to diminish Franklin. It was to show that he had not done anything up until this season to PROVE that he could become an elite level coach. CBJ has not SHOWN that he is an elite coach up to this point. He has SHOWN that he is a very good coach. There are aspects of being a head coach that he is very good at and he has aspects of the job that he needs to improve on to become elite. He is in the same position many coaches find themselves in during their career.

The fans that hate him and are incapable of removing emotions from their opinions say stupid stuff like "he is terrible and can never be an elite coach" or "he will never win big at UT" and that is just false. He might never become an elite coach. We do not know. What we do know, based on what he HAS SHOWN is that he is very good at a lot of aspects of being a head coach. He has shown more in his career TO THIS POINT that Dabo did when he was 4 years into being a head coach. Dabo continued to grown as a head coach and developed a system that has put him in the conversation with the best coaches in college football. The actual evidence shows that CBJ has that possibility. He might also not grow and have peaked and never become elite. The problem is the idiot fans that think they have any idea whether he will. And it is mostly because they diminish what he has accomplished and have the emotional stability of a teenage girl and can't get over the fact that they don't like CBJ because he is boring and bland and uses cliches. Which is something that has nothing to do with his ability to be an elite coach. Saban is the most boring, bland, cliche coach in college football.

I really like this post and agree. We just don't know, but he certainly has improved things.

Butch should start talking like Ed Orgeron. Make his coach speak entertaining.

Redshirt. We are able to do more and more of that now that we have a better roster.

SIAP

All players that are expected to get redshirted this year:

Devante Brooks
Latrell Williams
Jarrett Guarantano
Alexis Johnson
Nathan Niehaus
Ja'Quan Blakely
Austin Smith
Austin Pope
DJ Henderson

I guess McDaniel would get one, too, if he remains on the team. Someone may need to check that though.

Yes I would have after he sat out that year and kept his nose clean.

Never will understand this type of reasoning.....

He either should get a 2nd chance or he shouldn't.....why does the location or program matter?

There is never a reason to hit a female....even when provoked!

But I can tell you after working over 24 years in retail that I can definitely understand the temptation.....

This kid was 17--or 18 when he lost it and made a stupid decision? And the girl didn't deserve to be slugged--but she definitely provoked him....

I don't think the penalty levied by OU was sufficient....the NCAA should've stepped in and suspended him for 2 years....from playing in ANY program....

I do agree that the kid should get a second chance to play FB--and I hope he makes the best of it....you don't throw an entire life away for an assault and battery charge...

Super impressed by Saquon Barkley. I'll be interested to see what kind of draft stock he has next year.

He's been considered a first round pick for a while now. I think this performance launches him into top 5 pick consideration in 2018.

I don't know about depth but the top of the 2018 draft looks amazing. Here are my top 5 prospects in that class so far:

1. QB Sam Darnold - Matt Stafford 2.0
2. DB Derwin James - Sean Taylor mixed with Eric Berry
3. RB Saquon Barkley - better version of Ezekiel Elliott
4. DE Arden Key - more explosive Simeon Rice
5. WR Antonio Callaway - Marvin Harrison

I like all 5 of these guys to be All-Pros.

Regarding Mixon:

'Double jeopardy' exists. Legally, you can't be tried twice for a single offense. Yet it seems like that is what most people want after the recent release of the video. When he committed the crime, he was suspended for a year. You could argue that the punishment was too light, and I'd completely agree. But right or wrong, that was the punishment. I don't see the logic in re-suspending him just because the video put this freshly into everybody's minds again. In my opinion, the chatter shouldn’t be “Why is Mixon allowed to play in the Sugar Bowl?” The chatter should be “Why did Bob Stoops allow him to remain on the football team in the first place?” And that chatter should have happened two-and-a-half years ago when the incident occurred and the suspension was announced. Not now, when people saw the video and finally realized what a man breaking a woman’s face looks like.

I will never root for Joe Mixon. I will never wish him well. With that said, I acknowledge that a man is defined by the sum of his actions, not just a single instance. I hope, as I do for any man, that he has learned and improved as a person from this. I can’t control whether he’s given a shot in the NFL or not. But in the event that somebody signs him, then I hope he spends his career as a positive influence to prevent violence against women. He’ll have the money and the visibility to make a real, tangible impact, and I hope he uses it.

I've been away from VolNation (sick and then traveling) for a while... any recent rumors about staff changes? What's the latest on Blackburn? Forgive my lack of time/energy to read the last 100 pages.

Oh, and it was a welcome change to see the Tennessee defense somewhat effective against Nebraska in the bowl game. I think we will see improvement next year on defense, despite our losses to NFL/eligibility...

Sam darnold is damn good....Better then eason

I've said for a while now Eason will be a bust in the NFL. The guy will probably still be the 1st overall pick in 2019. But he won't win anything in college or the pros. The guy has all the tools but lacks the intangibles.
