It seems odd but beating Bama who already lost to Auburn in champ game in monumental upset propels Vols into playoffs. Bama just gets clocked by Shoop and Vols win 38 -12. Saban really shows strain of losing to Clemson in 2017 NC game and losing to auburn and Tennessee back to back blowing the 2017 regular season. The old man ages 20 years overnight and looks like Bll Snyder on a bad day.

This can easily happen. Saban is wound so tight it will not take that much to push him over the edge. Kentucky game is not that huge an upset as they are second in SEC East. UF falls apart barely making Belk Bowl to play Duke.

I saw the vols beat the dog sheet out of a Miami team (35-7) thought to be invincible in 1986 with a second string qb. How old are you guys anyway ?

We win the home games. I think LSU at home in November better than Texas A&M away in October. Georgia Tech and Florida winnable but, tough games. We beat South Carolina. Bama always tough, especially in Tuscaloosa - loss. Agree this depends on a healthy team all season, excellent QB play, Shoop defense consistently shutting people down. Injuries, new QBs with mistakes, and opponents with 400+ yards of offense could make it a rough season. First things first though. Close out NSD in top ten would be great. A much improved team, strength and conditioning wise, would also be great.

We actually played them better in Tuscaloosa last year. That is a winnable game. To to it we need to improve each week leading up to that game. We were very inconsistent last year, I expect that to be fixed by the changes that are coming.

I'm not equipped to handle another Ky loss. There was a bad call on a fumble. Just like the bad call when Memphis beat us. It's a bunch or garbage the way refs can blow calls. The Ky fumble was reviewed and they still got it wrong.

bama is beatable we can win that one too.

Old enough to remember that game. I had a cousin that played with several guys on that team.

You realize you just reached back 30 years to find a game that had nothing to do with the question.

I know Allen. I was at UT when Bill Battle was hired passing over Johnny Majors to give the job to a 28 year old from Alabama. Tragic decision. Johnny had to come in after the program was destroyed. Very tough decade between 1975 and 1985. A few bumps after that. It is hard to want it badly and it not happen. I have never seen injuries like 2016 on defense watching Tennessee since 1966. Still they won 9 games. Hang in there as they will rise back up if the new AD will support Butch and let him bring in top flight assistants. Butch Jones did not hire Kiffin or Dooley - he took on the assignment to clean up a disaster.

Support the man as he can do it. A championship team sometimes emerges when fans are down and out and demoralized. Ballplayers and coaches don't fixate on the past and worry about disappointments in the past fortunately.

I see 7-5. Losses to UF UGA UA LSU USC. Win the bowl...8-5. Not too shabby. About what I'll expect under Butch. Maybe snag one of those like USCjr. Beating Muschamp finally would be a Butch style signature win. Go vols!
