His support isn't what it was 99% because of W/Ls. I won't say it hasn't slipped, but I don't think it's anywhere close to what Dooley's was heading into 2012.

His public persona could improve. Does it wear on some fans? Of course it does, but to steal a wrestling term, it's the smarks that get upset by it and they are far from a sizeable portion of the fans. Plus, I think it's the most simple thing to correct once an AD is on board.

I agree that his loss of support is mostly because of wins. No doubt.


I just think if he fit in more comfortably in Knoxville many folks would cut him a bit more slack is all.

Acknowledging that Butch has lost support is not "glorying in fantasy of Jones' decline." It's delusional to argue that he has not lost support after the 2016 season.

I agree with this. If Volnation is a microcosm of the fanbase there were on here that were 100% confident in Butch heading into the season that have list some level of confidence now. Some are completely off the train while some are still in Butch's corner but a few doubts have crept in. This is completely understandable after the way the season played out.

I said a couple of years ago that from an experience standpoint, Butch is a realative youngster in terms.s if coaching. Would the fanbase be patient enough for him to grow up?

Agree they have a floor of 9 wins but the difference between playoff and not will come down to QB play. Lost to Pitt this year, FSU will be better, Louisville will be better, plus there could a slip up like Pitt.

I've never called a teenager a butthole because he chose not to come to UT. You've done that for at least 3 kids this recruiting class and others in the past.

I don't think you're a bad poster and I think you're a good person. But an overwhelming amount of your comments involve calling someone or a group of people terms like "idiot" or "bunghole" or calling their posts stupid. It really distracts from the good points you often make in your comments.

We can all do better. I wasn't bringing up that comment to throw mud at you, it really was out of character for you, and I figured you were drinking, I'm just saying that we all say stupid things sometimes. I really do not remember calling any recruit this season other than Tee Higgins anything...maybe Hunter Johnson or Amari. Be that as it may, I don't believe just because you are a teenager makes you immune to being called an ass when you ae being one. I do think it is a butthole thing to do what "I believe" Tee Higgins did. And I don't know any other way to fully express how stupid I think the fringe elements, and their arguments are. I'm no Rhodes scholar, but I'm not a ignorant hick either. I will listen to reasonable argument, and often change my mind after hearing said argument. I will often admit when I've said something stupid, and when I've been a butthole.

I agree with that, I'm just saying that Butch has lost a lot of what could be called string support. That is just a fact. We can argue over the justification and extremity of the negativity however. That is I'm saying.

Yeah, that analyst does the same schtick every game he works. Always questions the decision on every questionable call and disagrees with the decision about 90% of the time. Gets really old.

He's used up his deposits of goodwill as Covey would say.

He's still a coach that the majority of fans will strongly support if he makes the adjustments that will lead to at least a division championship in the relatively near term.

Just win.
