Who was it that was praising Saban for relinquishing power to Lane a few weeks ago?

Whomever it was needs to retract their thinking on that.

Kiffin out, Sarkisian in, effective immediately. Pretty crazy to do that right before the championship.

Think maybe Saban was upset about the playcalling against Washington?

I didn't see him blow up on Kiffin during the game but I was surprised they didn't run the ball more. Especially the way Scarborough was running.

Huh? Of course media "perks" must come first? This includes pushing the narrative of the eroding fan base?

No idea what you're trying to convey here.

I was just saying you don't have anyway of knowing he'd "lose the team" if he was better with the media.

Just sounds like you're throwing ish at the wall and hoping something sticks in an attempt to pretend that Butch's poor skills dealing with the media hasn't hurt him and his team.

What I am trying to say is that you are pushing a narrative that Butch is losing support where the sold how bowl game does not support your thesis. Kapisch? Who's throwing stuff?

Selling out the music city bowl does not mean that he hasn't lost support.

If you can't see that he's lost support over the course of this season (to varying degrees with different sectors of the fanbase), you're either woefully tone deaf or willfully ignorant.

Wasn't me, but I'd say that letting Kiffin take over the offense has yielded overwhelmingly positive results up until this piece of news.

I agree. I told my friends that either Kiffin was unprepared or he was told not to show much. Doubt it was the later. Inexcusable to not continue running when you are making 10 yards per attempt with Scarborough. Every fifth play let Hurts throw a short slant, out, or dump to a TE to mix it up. WU was getting blown off the ball and getting tired in the second half. Sarkisian will do better than Kiffin at this point IMO.

Damn fanatical thinking.

Edit: Go ahead and glory in your fantasy of Jones' decline. Miserable.

I think you or I could be the offensive or defensive coordinator at Bama and they could still win...

On a serious not their offense was damn good before he got there. Anyone could have won there. Jmo

Idk, a week before you play Clemson in the final isn't exactly an ideal time to switch coordinators/playcallers

Especially considering the success Kiffin had against Clemson last year despite facing similar criticisms on and off in 2015.

You get criticized because you're seemingly unable to ever give a criticism that doesn't involve slinging a childish insult like "idiot fringe" at people you disagree with or even recruits who choose not to come here.

I've never said anything like the stupid comment that got you sent to ban land. And the only recruit that I have been overly negative towards is Tee Higgins, and it's not because he wanted to go somewhere else. But we all say stupid, childish things sometimes when we are vexed. I'll admit I do.

Nah - Bruin thinks appearing in the national playoffs 3 years in a row is underachieving because of Kiffin. They were only #15 in scoring offense to go with #1 in scoring defense. Of course they were also #1 in defensive scoring, which took away some offensive possessions.

You can read my post history and see that I'm far from the negavol you're portraying me as.

It's not a black and white situation. It's possible to acknowledge problems Butch is facing and mistakes he's made while acknowledging the good he's done and his strong points as a coach.

Acknowledging that Butch has lost support is not "glorying in fantasy of Jones' decline." It's delusional to argue that he has not lost support after the 2016 season.

Are you really incapable of comprehending the change in tone on these boards between today and one year ago?

I think it will be fine. They ran the same system and Sarkisian has been around the team all season. The players know Lane had one foot out the door. But you never know until it actually happens.

The proof in his worth is where were they before him?

It's not like he resurrected Bama's offense

Yeah I have a feeling Lane was trying to do too much and that upset Saban. Just makes no sense to not keep running. Even when Washington knew what was coming they couldn't stop it.

I'm sure Sark will be better in the long run but definitely a terrible time to dust off the cobwebs of playcalling. Just shows how much confidence Saban must have had left in Kiffin to tell him to Git at this point.

We all do say stupid childish things occasionally. I got stupid drunk and made a stupid tone deaf joke about Jones once that didn't go over well.

I've never called a teenager a butthole because he chose not to come to UT. You've done that for at least 3 kids this recruiting class and others in the past.

I don't think you're a bad poster and I think you're a good person. But an overwhelming amount of your comments involve calling someone or a group of people terms like "idiot" or "bunghole" or calling their posts stupid. It really distracts from the good points you often make in your comments.

He never had a QB as good as McCaron though.

I agree that any good OC would get good results at Bama with their playmakers. But you've gotta give him credit for what he's done with far from ideal QB situations his years there. No matter how limited their QB was, he managed to find ways for them to get the ball to their playmakers.

LSU is a place that had comparable offensive talent and wasn't able to get a fraction of the output he did because they couldn't scheme enough ways for sub par QBs to get the ball to their playmakers.
