The Official Tennessee Titans Thread III

I just don't think there is a DB worth taking at 5. There seems to be a lot of good DBs but no top five guy. There's no Ramsey/EB type guy in this draft.

Best case scenario, we trade back to 10 or so, get more picks and take a DB and best player in the first. But who will trade up to 5, kind of an awkward position.

I wouldn't be opposed to trading back to the 10-12 range, but only if it gives us a 2nd round pick. I hate not having one.

I know Titans fans will be connecting Eric Berry to the Titans all offseason, but I don't see it. I don't think JRob is the type to go spend tens of millions to get the top free agents and I wouldn't really want him to.

Jacksonville x2, Cleveland, and Chicago all with 13+ losses definitely skews that number. Titans only played 5 games against teams with losing records all year.

That's only 4 out of 16 teams played, and it's still a lot lower than almost all of the other non-playoff teams (the afternoon and evening games just skewed it about .001 );

AZ: .463
TEN: .465
BUF: .482
MIN: .492
IND: .492
TB: .492
BAL: .498
SF: .504
LA: .506
WAS: .516
NYJ: .518
CAR: .518
CIN: .521
CHI: .522
NO: .525
JAX: .528
SD: .543
DEN: .549
CLE: .549
PHI: .559

It had just as much to do with how bad our division was this year, more so than just being a result of 4 bad teams we played. The losses of the teams mentioned only account for around .21 of a team's SOS.

Thankfully, our division will likely continue to be garbage

I like when we play the AFC North. It's a throwback to the old AFC Central games.

I agree. I miss the old AFC Central. I kind of wish the Titans could have been kept with them after 2001 rather than being pushed into the AFC South (I guess they would have to have moved BAL instead?).

Or just kick Cleveland out of the NFL. They can be relegated to Canada.

Part of the settlement for the whole "city of Cleveland vs the NFL" lawsuit that Art Modell brought about with the way he went about moving that team to Baltimore pretty much prevents that (as well as prevents Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati from ending up in separate divisions).

That home schedule is kind of meh outside of Seattle and Oakland. Although it is always nice to play Baltimore at home.

I would like to see the titans trade down from 5 pick up a 2nd round pick, and then draft 2 corners in the first then either schuster or Ross in the 2nd round

Why not? Difference makers at safety have big value

Several reasons, he doesn't have a true position in the NFL.

He doesn't force turnovers. He's a great returner, but hasn't shown to be a big difference maker at his position to warrant that high of a draft position.

Just to prepare people, we are not going Peppers at 5, nor are we going to take a WR in the first round. taking a DB at 5 appears to be reaching at this point. There isn't a good enough player in the secondary or at WR to be taking that high in this draft.

I wouldn't be upset if we tried to trade down from #5 to be honest. I want to get back that missing #2 round pick.

Do you believe Barnett is a real option then if we stay there?

And I have seen one mock draft with us taking a wr at 5 (Williams).

I wouldn't be THAT upset about taking a receiver at 5 because we still need that superstar at the position. Matthews is a very fine #2 option and Sharpe #3. Depending if we can get a veteran CB/S in free agency I also wouldn't mind taking the best cover LB at #18 either.

Or they could have stayed true to geography and put the Colts in the north and the Ravens in the south.

Take Peppers at 5 and a corner at 18. That would make me happy. Or Barnett at 5 and a DB at 18.

I don't want Peppers. He's a great college athlete, but I saw him a few times this year and literally nothing about his game screamed "NFL" except maybe returning kicks. I'm not sure I'd take him in the 1st round period, definitely not at 5. I agree about drafting a corner though. That's one reason I wouldn't be opposed to trading down, as I think there could still be some real value there in the 10-15 range. Plus possibly getting back our 2nd? I think we'd be silly not to at least entertain it.
