For all you guys talking about firing Butch for an 8--4 record next year, please tell us who is going to pay his large buyout? UT is not interested in getting back into the buyout game. Butch is moving us forward. Have you forgotten the 5--7 years? Season ticket sales are up and we now have a surplus of funds.

Butch is not going anywhere until his contract is up or his buyout is manageable and I'm sure he will get an extension before his contract is up. Just keep dreaming though if it makes you happy.

Out of left field...

I've been seriously questioning Shoop, I'm not gonna lie. After yesterday, I'm more convinced that it really was the injuries. Yesterday wasn't perfect but a healthy Sutton, Foreman and DKjr made a massive difference. Plus having at least one DT helped, and Kongbo played DT like he actually wanted to contribute. Was nice to see.

Not only that but he had time (14 or 15 pre-bowl practices) to coach those inexperienced guys up - didn't have that when each week he was cobbling together a new 11.

I don't think 8-4 is bad enough to fire Butch in 2017. But his buyout drops a lot in 2017, to around 6 million or so.

If the university could afford Dooley's $5 million buyout in a year when they were financially in the red, they can pay $6 million for Butch next year. Revenue has been up on a consistent upswing the past 4 years.

Obviously the answer to my question is neither...but who would you rather see win it all this year? Clemson or Bama? Not sure how much a Bama win affects things...but a Clemson natty could hurt us even more in recruiting.

Bama. They are already getting who they want. Clemson would just gain even more leverage in the recruiting territory we work.

The AD operates at an annual $13M surplus now with the SECN money. Buyout wouldn't wouldn't be an issue.

Urban after the game tonight.
