Formula? Just look at who he recruited and the results he put up. He had great talent and went 46-7.

Think Helfrich would stick longer and also get along with our staff much better. He and Kelly are polar opposites as far as guys that are easy to work with from what we've heard.

I'd take Helfrich as OC

Not arguing for bringing him in here (though I would if we were currently in the market for a new HC), but who cares if he's a good guy in general as long as he wins games? Saban's not a good guy in general. Neither is Jimbo or Bellicheck or any other number of great coaches.

When evaluating a HC hire, you do it based on whether he can win games for you (while avoiding major rules violations), not whether he's a swell guy or not.


As for NFL film, he won't face NFL defenses in college and what he likes to do on offense is much more well suited to the college game anyway.

For all you guys talking about firing Butch for an 8--4 record next year, please tell us who is going to pay his large buyout? UT is not interested in getting back into the buyout game. Butch is moving us forward. Have you forgotten the 5--7 years? Season ticket sales are up and we now have a surplus of funds.

Butch is not going anywhere until his contract is up or his buyout is manageable and I'm sure he will get an extension before his contract is up. Just keep dreaming though if it makes you happy.
