'17 MS RB Cam Akers (FSU commit 12/27)

Boys we will be okay no matter what happens. Have Ty and he is a stud too. Having both would be gravy

I agree that from a football standpoint, recruiting Akers was playing with house money. This hurts more from a perception standpoint, as this would have been seen as a much stronger class with him on board.

This isn't too far from the truth, IMO. Any school worth its salt would be in Akers' ear regarding CBJ's hot seat, and the distinct possibility that CRG may not be employed at UT in 2018.

Although all signs are beginning to point to FSU, CRG deserves accolades for keeping UT in this one. He's arguably the MVP recruiter of the staff.

UT will be favored in all but 1 game next year.
Butch not going anywhere.
JGuarantano will win 40 games.

Agree with this, and would help tremendously with momentum for the class. Sometimes kids want to play with other kids and Cam seems like one of those. FTR, JG seems like one of those guys that kids gravitate to as well.

Just be thankful for Ty Chandler.

and will be equally thankful for Akers when he commits to the VOLS tonight.

Honestly, I think he surprises the overwhelming majority tonight and does what is best for him and his family thereby choosing TN.

The OL he will be running behind the next 3 years will be one of the best in the country. Moreover, his path to the NFL is no better at FSU and in my opinion he plays a lot more and early at TN than any other school.

Even If I'm wrong with my guess, TN will be just fine. I've said it before and will say it one more time TNs recruiting has held up well all things considered. This class is essentially wrapped up + or - a couple and will strengthen an already talented roster.

Beat Nebraska on Friday and look forward to 2017.

GO VOLS!!!

Tennessee always seems to find a way to let Vol fans down ..

Why do ya'll get so emotionally invested on kids who have never played a snap in college?

I remember all the hype over landing 5* Drew Richmond in 2015. Two years later he's had zero impact and has been outplayed so far by a 3* (Chance Hall) nobody was talking about on signing day 2015.

I've already said Ty Chandler is more impressive on film than Cam Akers. And I believe he will be the better college RB ultimately.

We forgot you're the ultimate talent evaluator.

Richmond redshirted so he's only had one year to make an "impact."

You specifically said "the bagman cometh", referring to OM.

Yep, doesn't mean he bites. Callahan just said the same as me, FSU with OM being the darkhorse. I've said on here many times don't trust them or AU. There is cheating, then there is OM/AU.

Going to be one of those what if classes. We got Smith because his sister is at Tennessee but... if we had the season we were supposed to, I bet we get this guy and a LOT more.

If you read the feature article on Smith in the Sunday Jackson Sun you will find that he had decided on Tennessee before his sister was on staff. Its a pretty cool story on what convinced him.
