Obama's parting gift to Israel

Oh come on. We've been vetoing stuff in the UN for 40 years in this dispute and it hasn't worked. Although Trump has made a coupe of critical comments, his overriding message has been that our participation in the UN is going to become far less active. Trump is much less willing to entangle us in that quicksand than anyone. You're fooling yourself if you think Trump is going to get aggressive in that.

You're trying way to hard, one might think that Obama was your first.

Seeing as how Ivanka converted to Judaism when she married, I suspect her dad will be far more pro Israel than any president I can remember.

If it is one thing that concerns me about Trump, it is this. I do not think he will do anything to pull us away from Israeli influence on our foreign policy.

Seems to me that Obama threw gasoline in the Middle East and then threw the matches to Israel's enemies. I can see no reason for him to do this now other than saying screw you to the Jewish State, or to show those who say he has Muslim leaning that they are right. This is a really odd foreign policy change on Christmas and Hanukkah less than a month when he doesn't have to deal with it.

Obama is a terrorist sympathizer. His words and actions have proved that without a doubt.

The Bush administration drafted essentially the same resolution as well. But history is long and hard.

Personally, I think someone needs to grab the Israelis by their shirt collars and shake them until they get it together and realize that these settlements only make things worse for them, but that's just my opinion. I would, however, like to see us push the UN to be less harsh on Israel, since Israel often seems to get condemnation for things that other states - ones that are far worse - get a pass on.

About this particular abstention, I think it is Obama's parting shot at Netanyahu for his attempts at publicly driving Obama's name through the mud at practically every opportunity. Not the least of which was Netanyahu's speech before Congress nearly two years ago, which remains the most ignominious act performed by one of our political parties, although Trump's public siding with Putin to slam Democrats is pretty darn close.

Anyhow, none of this will matter in a couple of months. Meanwhile, if Israel wants to continue expanding its settlements, it had best be drafting its defensive gameplan for when the Fourth Intifada starts.

Israel certainly deserves some of the blame for the current situation and whether some organizations are labeled terrorists or freedom fighters is one perspective.

Well, the Bible says that one day, all nations will surround Israel, bent on its destruction. So, you have that to look forward to.

He didn't need to do this but he did.

What a @#*& move in his last days with no repercussion that he will have to answer for.

What a poltroon.

Perhaps Bibi should be a little more careful next time when he decides to take up invites from US political parties to speak before Congress in order to bash a sitting American president.

I do believe in self-fulfilling prophecies, especially when they involve Father Abraham's well-behaved children.
