As you see, Asians aren't actually over represented. I could make the argument that their underrepresented. Those are the actual numbers, and the only group that's over represented are African Americans. If each race was equally strong and athletic, these two sets of numbers would be almost matching. If I ran the same numbers for another career choice such as scientist or doctors, the data would skew in a whole other direction.

I would say work ethic among professional athletes aren't much different between black, white, Asian, and Hispanics. Can't ignore the numbers.

Not necessarily.

You are assuming the desire to make it in pro football is equivalent across ethnic groups. That is a faulty assumption.

I knew many Asian kids growing up that had little interest in sports like basketball and football. They were hardcore into academics cause their parents stressed it. The same is true for many African immigrants. Parents stressed academics so there was no great desire to make it in athletics.

While in the ghetto, where many of the great black athletes come from, sports is seen as the only way to make it out. Thus these kids work harder to make it in the sport.

Ask almost any great athlete. Work ethic is what separates the good from the great. Why would it be any different when it comes to making the league?

You guys are just so brainwashed by white racial supremacy that you can't believe black people simply work harder than you to get what they get. You want to believe we are dominating the NFL and NBA because of some genetic predisposition just so you can justify your over-representation in all other fields of life.

Athletics prove that if the playing field is level, black people can be as good as anyone else.

White supremacy = myth created to justify the social construct that is race

Everyone being African = reality based on genetics


Race in our world is not a biological reality. It is a human construct. That means that eventhough we are all one race scientifically, racists have created a racial hierarchy based on white supremacy.

I am railing against this destructive myth that most of the world has been brainwashed into believing.

I worked really hard as a high school athlete. I played football. I didn't make it because of genetics. Not many colleges want an athlete playing football who is 5'9" and 143lbs.

Actually I've read the thread in its entirety as this is a topic near and dear to me, both professionally and personally. Much of what you say is accurate and I agree. Your insistence on blaming external factors without including a variety of internal factors shows bias in your logic. But I would like to know the bottom line. What would it take to satisfy the average person who had enslaved ancestors? You have not answered this basic question and i think that could go a long way to helping people understand. You are trying to get people to actually understand, right?

I like to answer questions I have specific knowledge on. I don't want to give a specific number value on this because I simply haven't done comprehensive research on what would be adequate compensation for the slavery.

And besides, no matter what number value I propose, most of the posters here have already made it clear that any amount of reparations would be unjustified. So why waste my time?

I'd rather expose white supremacy for what it is than get into a debate over a number that the people asking for will say is unwarranted off the jump.

But it is a major part of your proposed solution and one that gets repeated often. Don't put a number, but charactorize it in some way to allow people to understand the path to reconciliation. Is it a token amount that accompanies an apology and an official designation as a descendent of slaves? Or is it some life changing windfall?

And to put this shabby discussion into the grave. Why is it that African Arabians ( which was more African than arab ) almost conquer Europe back in 400s when technology was in the Moors favor by a little, but after 1000 years Europeans were able to imperialize Africa easily? Same amount of time, and its the same start. It's because the Europeans had more technological advantages.

There are things that certain races are just better at. I'm not arguing to suppress black people because of these facts, and obviously there are some black people who are some of the smartest men in society like Ben Carson. The fact that people like Ben Carson arent common is depressing.

If blacks in America realize that the USA is the closest thing to a meritocracy like every other race has, then we would see them put in more effort in school instead of trying to victimize themselves.

The more you use cars, airplanes, electricity, computers, internet, English, the more you perpetuate the White Supremacy "myth". You are part of the problem.
