Unhappy SEC

You truly think Tennessee goes on the road and wins against Florida without knowing who the QB is?

Georgia will be out for blood with a two headed monster coming back
Sure, why not? As far as Florida, I don't really expect an unknown QB to go to Gainesville and put the team on their back. I mean if JG or someone else turns out to be our own Jalen Hurts or Jacob Eason then great, but the teams that beat Florida this year all ran on them. Neither Bama or the Noles threw for even a buck-fifty on Florida, but they ran. I think winning next year will depend on that again more than expecting the world of a new arm, and I wouldn't mind at all having a season next year where the new QB's job is to just not lose. Honestly, whether we win or lose Florida or Georgia is going to depend a lot more on who's left and right of center than who's under it.

Oh he will be andd the fans will hate it. But 8-4 with the team next year should be a good accomplishment for Butch. I think we surprises someone next year!

For Butch, Id agree. Thats his ceiling.
I don't buy that the fans will be the only ones with displeasure. Had he gone 10-2 this year followed by 8-4 Id agree with you. He got that ball rolling a year early.

Dobbs threw for 320 and 4 TDs against UF this year. Plus 80 yards on the ground and another rushing TD.

Bama and FSU didn't need great QB play to beat them.

We will need more than a game manager to beat UF in Gainesville next year.

Was anybody else on that list 2-2 against Vandy over the last four years ? Did another coach on that list ask for a raise after going 2-2 against Vandy? There's unhappy and then there is embarrassed.

Did anyone else on that list even come close to the major injuroes we had? No

Butch wanted out but no one would bite.
Asking for a raise with new bosses coming in is like you said essentially begging to be fired at the first sign of trouble next season

How do you know Butch wanted out of Tennessee? Other than conjecture of course.

The # of wins really isn't the standard-- the expectation is to win the SECE. It's unlikely that 8-4 will achieve that. Early games against GT and the Gators in the Swamp are going to be tough with a new RS FR QB. UGA will be improved, and they're returning key players plus a top recruiting class for depth. Even 9-3 with losses to UF and/or UGA could kill UT's chances to play in the SECCG.

Do they need to be?

It took a 400 yrd and 5 TD (I guess technically 4 since we could have won with 1 less) game from Dobbs to beat them at home this year.

Did you miss the portion of the conversation regarding the importance of QB play vs. UF?

Freeze will always get a pass beacuse of his fluky Bama wins.

What makes it a fluke? That he didn't pull of another close one again this year?

He's not a great coach by any stretch but he has figured out how to compete with the best on that weekend.

And what exactly is he getting a pass on?

I keep hearing injuries as the excuse for this year, and sure we had a bunch. Are injuries really the reason we lost to USC and Vandy?

I dont think so and without those two loses, this fanbase is as happy as could be with a trip to Atlanta and New Orleans.

The QB position will def take big steps next season.
Eason is easily the best of the bunch. I exclude Hurts because anyone can run that offense.

Other than Tn making Eason look like the next Montana ,he really didn't do nothing else all yr.

Excessive injuries and depth issues are in-part on Butch. He's made some good progress in bringing the program back, but he's made some costly mistakes that he needs to recognize and he has some problem areas he needs to fix. Hopefully he realizes all of that and makes the right changes.

Yeah, I remember him talking about lack of hitting drills etc. But I dont think losing to vandy and usc is injuries.

Im not sold he goes 8-4 either.

I don't see him beating Bama, LSU, or UF

Could also see him losing 2 of UGA, USC, Tech, and Vandy.

Sounds about right if he doesn't make the right changes in his staff. He needs to make those changes count. I agree he's done if he messes that up. :hi:

True Orange was right about Georgia vs Vandy. However, Georgia FIRED their coach after such embarrassing losses with in a four year span.

You made the claim, not me. So I will ask again, how do you know he checked out and wanted out?

Everything that happened during and after the SC game.
The Purdue Job
Ducking the media

He wanted out he tried to do so and fell on his face. Otherwise it would have probably been a Kiffin move

Here's the funny thing, it doesn't matter if you think a fact is true or not, it's still true. 3rd string players are 3rd string for a reason. Sure some of them are young and will get better, but some of them just are not physically able to compete with starters in the SEC. We don't have the luxury of a Bama where our back ups are 4 and 5 * players just waiting for their turn. That won't change as long as Butch has a decent moral compass.

Are you a fiction writer? If so I hope it's better than this nonsense.

So it's a fact that losing to Vandy and USC was because of injuries? Can you provide a link, I must have missed where that was a proven fact? With your obvious intelligence, can you tell me how our lack of talent due to injuries allowed us to have a large lead on Vandy at halftime?
Let's be honest, besided Cummingham and maybe a couple of other players everyone on Vandy roster is a 2nd or 3rd stringer on Tennessees team this year. We didnt lose to Vandy or USC because of injuries. If thats what you tell yourself to make you feel better, thats cool. But its not a proven fact like you say.
