That horse isn't dead around here. I live and work in Oak Ridge. The conversations involving Tee Higgins occur often. How many times does our small town have a top 10 player in the nation? Community pride and UT loyalty is strong. There's a lot of bitterness to go around. I see and hear about it nearly every day.

So the horse may be dead for you but he's very much alive in this community.

Maybe if y'-all beat Tee instead of the dead horses....

Follow up question: if someone asks a question that no one can possibly know the answer to, does it get answered?

One more follow-up: why in the world does someone bump a current player's old recruiting thread to ask a stupid question that no one can answer?

OUCH......

On a serious note, I seem to remember the vibe being that Tee rolled in to Knoxville like it was a paid vacation and never had any intention on coming back... taking advantage of the situation, Butch, and his Alma Mater...

why would his kid have beef with that?

That's not how it happened. CBJ wanted to hire his buddy Azzanni but felt pressured to interview someone with Tennessee ties. So he made a token outreach to Tee, who wasn't looking to make a move. Tee flew in to hear what his alma mater had to say, but CBJ made an offer that he knew Tee wouldn't find appealing. SC immediately trumped UT's offer and CBJ wouldn't match it, even though he had the budget. CBJ wanted to hire Azzanni while getting credit from the fanbase for offering Tee.

As for the "paid vacation"-- Tee paid his family's way. UT didn't send anyone to meet them at the airport or provide transportation. They were left to wander around on their own and weren't even allowed access to some of the facilities. It was ill-advised all around.

Check it out with LWS. He's always quoted as a trustworthy source, so see what he has to say about it.

Since it appears you know how it all went down, did Tee really have on SoCal gear while here for the interview? I remember that was a rumor.

I doubt that's true. But I really don't know. Tee loves UT, though, and wanted to coach here before he went to SC. He always speaks very highly of his alma mater.

Hopefully that can happen one day. Even if he wasn't interested at the time, it's disappointing to hear CBJ didn't go out out of his way to treat him well while here.

Thank you for the info.

You never know. Sometimes, the timing is just wrong.
