Unhappy SEC

In hindsight, 10-2 means you lost a game to the best team in the country and let one slip by on the road against a mediocre team that you turned it over too much against. And yet still had a shot to win. You move on to Atl, finish 10-3 and head to the Sugar Bowl.

8-4 means you dropped 2 more games to inferior opponents out of your last 5 games and you land in Nashville. I agree that some would feel better finishing 5-0 at the end season. Im not sure it makes that much difference to me.

So you've just come to expect it?

We definitely blew it this year. As far as the scenario of losing to Georgia... I suppose since we beat them last year I'd take that loss in 2016 as opposed to USCe and Vandy because that probably would have been enough for the Sugar Bowl?

We need to win against Nebraska, 8-5 with a down SECe is underperforming.

Was anybody else on that list 2-2 against Vandy over the last four years ? Did another coach on that list ask for a raise after going 2-2 against Vandy? There's unhappy and then there is embarrassed.

Is there any legitimate reporting that he asked for a raise this year?

To me beating Nebraska while it counts in the win column doesent mean a whole lot. Tennessee should be in a better bowl

I don't disagree with that but we need to finish on a good note for the health of the program. This season was a regression in my mind but finishing w the same record as last season would help soothe some wounds.

Also, we owe those cornholes some payback from the late 90s. Sad how both programs have declined since then.

Meh, not the same. Back then UT & Neb were like Ferraris. Now, both programs are like Buicks.

Is a Nebraska win all that important considering what the goal was this season? Tennessee was given the east and did everything right. Then SC happened. A down team and what makes it worse is we were coming off a bye. Then Butch says F the fans! Really? Regardless, I think most fans let that go and things seemed to be back on track. Butch checked out mentally when he said he didn't know about the LSU game. Then Vandy happened and to most Butch was done.

Either way he'll be here and next year will determine his fate. I don't think he makes it.

8-4 next year and he is still the coach in 2018, don't think next year will seal any fate unless he pulls a 6-6 or worse.:)

I could see that if it were Florida again
But SC and Vandy just leave a sour taste like no other.

The fan base is so upset about SC and Vandy losses and rightfully so but if we had beat SC and Vandy and Lost to Florida and Georgia, they would be acting the same way.

4 losses sucks but acting like it is just because it was SC and Vandy is ridiculous. Its easy to say now but people would be just as pissed if it had been Florida and Georgia.

8-4 will probably land him 3rd in the east and further cement he is a 8 win coach when the east is poor.

Don't think he survives that.

8-4 is just to high for me.

Flordia
Georgia
Bama
LSU
And until I see him beat CWM SC is a loss too

Are all loses.

Include Ga Tech and most likely KY or Vandy ...leaves a 5-7 record more likely

Butch hasn't lost to Kentucky but he doesn't have Dobbs so I see your point.

Vandy is 50/50 at best

I've posted before that I think the Vols drop the GT game as well unless big changes happen on D. Tennessee doesent do fundamental football well enough to beat Tech

Im not sold he goes 8-4 either.

I don't see him beating Bama, LSU, or UF

Could also see him losing 2 of UGA, USC, Tech, and Vandy.

It's not just the Dobbs effect...KY has been improving and it is in Lexington ...not positive signs for old brick by brick.
