Right. And there are others who don't care for CBJ at all. Everybody has their own opinion and rationale. Some former players, parents of players, donors and boosters do feel there are internal issues that aren't being addressed, but they're keeping quiet. Choosing not to air dirty laundry in public doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Do you think that if he gets someone of "Rocks" NFL status in S&C, cleans up the assistant issues with bringing in some higher-tier staff, and learns to step out of his bubble, the folks you mentioned that feel there are internal issues will start to change their tune?

With respect to recruits, they are presented with the best possible picture. On the other hand, some folks may have talked that have rational or irrational axes to grind with Butch. As usual, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

This is a very opaque statement. It is easy enough to say, but where is the proof? Why should anyone be expected to believe it just based off of statements like this?

You've named 4 pretty large groups of people, two of which I happen to be a part of, so you would think there would be some kind of information to go by.....but, there is nothing. If there are enough people that feel there is an issue, then they should say so. Otherwise it is nothing more than internet rumors and/or click bait. Neither of which would help fix the supposed problem.

Well, you just described any coach that has ever coached at a major university. They are public figures. Yet, those other coaches don't have articles written that describe their program's culture as a "disaster" while citing unnamed "college sources." While I don't doubt there are people who are questioning him, Haney did a terrible job telling the other side of the story and quoting those inside who do like him.

Some people will never like CBJ's style and process; others support and defend him. Ultimately, CBJ does things his way and feels it is infallible-- and there are always going to be people who don't like that. This has been a bad season not to have an AD.

If you feel so strongly, write a rebuttal. Cite sources and get it published.

Quick Cool Story Bro moment.

I live in Sarasota and work in Tampa. My work puts me in contact with some NFL folks at times. Derrick Brooks is active in the Tampa community. He occasionally runs a golf tournament. I went and was able to talk with Jon Gruden for awhile. He said he was ready to become Tennessee's next coach but declined when a important person in the AD informed him that he would have to carry a couple phones and provide open access to those phones. Gruden became turned off by the micromanaging aspect and walked away. He told me he absolutely loves UT and it still upsets him that the opportunity wasn't able to be worked out.

Then the public Charlie Strong rejection occurred.

I never liked our AD after that moment. Time for a Tennessee man to come home and leave the Bammers outside the complex.

Right there with you. Thanks for sharing. There are several other truthful stories to be told, but the negativity/Grumors crap starts and they will not be told. Bama Dave is as much a blight on UT as Hamilton ended up being. But worse than them are the know-it-alls that hired them.

Yeah, I'd heard it was either that, or they couldn't figure out a way for Gruden's sponsors- namely Hooters- to coexist with the UT HC role.

Who knows, maybe some of my dislike for Hart stems from the Gruden thing.

If gruden wanted to come here and Hart didn't hire him, he should've been fired immediately along with the other idiots that didn't want gruden. Dave harts an idiot and horrible ad. The "LADY" Vols program is in shames, hell all ut sports programs are not very good and what has he done, he got lucky and the football is somewhat stable. bball, baseball, lady vols are bad and why, I'll never know, was lady dropped from women's programs, dumbest thing ever. He can't make a decision without dragging it out for days and weeks, he has no backbone and if Blackburn isn't hired, it's gonna be awesome before the ut sports programs as a whole make a comeback. LEADERSHIP at TENNESSEE is currently an embarrassment

While I have no doubt that he was turned off by micro management, coaches at public universities are subject to open records requests. Therefore, any school issued phones would fall under this. Not sure that has much to do with micro management. Just a thought.
