I am stuck here in yankeeland for a few more months and I feel like a stranger in a strange land. In the five years I have lived here, I have yet to understand one very critical thing about the yankee way of life. Why in the name of all that is good and holy do these yankees like to eat peanut butter sandwiches with their chili!?!? It makes no sense. Every time I bring chili in for everybody they bring PB and I bring stuff for grilled cheese. I can't make the grilled cheeses fast enough and the PB sits dormant, but they insist that PB goes with chili! It is incredible, the height of their delusion. UnionCityVol! Your wife's family is from Indiana. Are they as backwards and confused as these poor souls I am dealing with here? Six more months and I'll be back in TN where things make sense.
PB and chili. Who ever heard tell of such a thing? I'll bet TonyB eats PB with his chili. That seems like the sort of nonsense he would get himself involved with.![]()
Gotta remember how migration occurred in America. Even parts of Ohio is considered the Midwest.
Cinnamon in chili is a Cincinnati thing. More yankee influence. Sorry Ron. I can't come over and have chili at your house now. The yankees do infiltrated your chili.
Also, Kristy. PB is awesome. Just doesn't belong in the same room as chili.
Yeah, I guess. Maybe it was appropriate 200 years ago, but something else would work better now. My husband is from Minnesota, and the term has always bugged me. Seems like "North" should be in there. North-central U.S. Oregon is what I would call the mid-west.
I can't stand the stuff. I thought I would never make a PB sandwich in my life. But my kids love it. So, I caved of course. But it still grosses me out.
I make a spicy chili but add brown sugar. It's awesome!
Sigh. I am from here and my school used to serve peanut butter sandwiches with chili. I have to admit that I like it, though not as much as my grilled cheese dipped in the chili with each bite. I have chili at home and your post has helped me to decide that I am going to do grilled cheese sandwiches tonight![]()
Hart didn't really do himself any favors with the way he handled most big decisions. They appeared to be bumbling, poorly thought out, and executed. He did a few things well but he's no big loss.
they are from southern indiana, uncle is a farmer who owns an island on the ohio river to duck hunt on. they are ok, just talk different.I am stuck here in yankeeland for a few more months and I feel like a stranger in a strange land.
