"Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl
Nebraska (9-3, 6-3 Big Ten) vs. No. 21 Tennessee (8-4, 4-4 SEC)
Dec. 30 – 3:30 p.m., ESPN
Nissan Stadium, Nashville, Tenn.

Average Line: Tennessee, -3

Whether anyone in Knoxville wants to admit to it or not, Vols head coach Butch Jones is coaching for his job in this game. If Tennessee loses and finishes with five losses (one more than they had last season), Jones can probably start looking around for work.

Cornhuskers head coach Mike Riley isn’t any more comfortable than Jones, however a strong second half of the season might have given him a reprieve, win or lose here.

Tennessee can’t take care of the ball, finishing with -2 turnover margin including a whopping 13 fumbles lost, and 12 interceptions thrown this year. Nebraska thrives on taking it away, especially in the passing game where they’ve intercepted opposing quarterbacks 16 times this season.

It’s all going to come down to Vols QB Joshua Dobbs and how well he takes care of the football. Given his track record, things don’t look good for Big Orange.

Prediction: The Tennessee foundation that has been crumbling this season will give way. Take Nebraska in the upset."

I don't think you can say it's an upset. with our defense I don't think we could beat 1/2 the teams on our schedule we beat this year. Very few teams in Division 1 couldn't move the ball on this defense.

Seriously??? Is this a thing?

He's not coaching for his job, but it'll put him on the hot seat game one next year if we get embarrassed vs Nebraska.

New AD that hasn't been hired yet.

I thought the same a couple weeks ago. The more I've thought about it the more I believe his seat will judged on next year. If he fails next season , it will be hot going into 2018.

We have 62 scholarship players returning next year if McDaniel is gone. That's counting Daniel, Jumper, and Lovingood. Not sure where you found 65. Austin Sanders is graduating and leaving. That might be one, but I'm not sure on the others.

Gene Henley from Times Free Press was on WMNL talking about the UTC opening, some notable UT names popped up, Dale Jones, Randy Sanders, Bob Shoop, Mark Elder and Fulmer. He also said the hang up with the AD was there was only one booster that wasn't on board with DB. He didn't say who it was, but he said they had their name on a building. TIFWIW

He's a bit off-target there. Some boosters still support Gilbert and would like him to stay in some meaningful capacity. Others want Gilbert and Hart both gone as soon as possible. Gilbert and Hart seem to want to stay as long as possible. The majority agree on the big picture; now it's details.

Stopped reading at coaching for his job. Lazy lazy reporting.

So the News Sentinel show is going away? That is great news, if true. Maybe that means no more Vince Ferrara.

That would be great news. Ferrara is a Gator fan who smuggley digs at the Vols whenever he has a chance.

Also, the News Sentinel is free-falling into irrelevance. Gannett just fired the KNS President/Publisher two days ago. Print media is dying a slow, steady death.

I'll bet Gannett saw this show as a waste of money and they are having to continue to make cuts and layoffs to keep KNS afloat.
