Haha, you might be right.
Let's put it this way... Aranda is known for being a little different and LSU hired him. I heard it was pretty bizarre situation but its not exactly easy for someone to explain someone being very awkward.
Absolutely they do. If Fans stop coming to games their investments won't be worth very much. The buyout will not be that big compared to the money and support that will be lost if Butch is retained after another mediocre year. There will not be an issue with buyout money, especially getting a competent AD in that could easily raise enough money for the buyout and anything else. And last I checked us fans spend our own money coming to the games, buying everything Vol related, spebding money at games so that argument holds no water at all. The new AD will want to have his prints on the biggest moneymaker for the university and another mediocre and underachieving coaching job won't be tolerated. Not to mention Butch whining that he isn't appreciated,he has already sent out feelers at other schools so that isn't a secret. He better hope improvement is made or he wont be here this time next season.. Guaranteed!!!
I honestly see 7-5 next year. The Vanderbilt loss this year was back to the barrel of ultimate embarrassment. This year was the ceiling. I have no idea how in the hell 80% of our fan base cannot understand that. He self-inflicts himself for being made fun of in the national media......then wonders why its happening. Sets at a press conference b****ing about people undervaluing the staff's achievements like no head coach in Tennessee history has reached 8 wins by year 4. He literally has everything at his disposable to be successful. Dave Hart has backed that man since he has been here and given him resources to hire coaches and recruit. The only excuse left is himself. He has misused some of the most talented players that have come through this program in 10 years. Out coached by Scott Satterfield, Kirby Smart, Will Muschamp, and Derek Mason. (That was not a knock on Satterfield either). But whatever. Everyone can use the excuse of a new QB next year to justify a Belk Bowl appearance.
oklol: an agent sending out feelers is what they do that is hardly a damning allegation for a coach on a "hot seat". The boosters get to have a say in who is hired but they do not get a cent from ticket sales. You are speaking in generalities from message boards you read. I have heard the same quotes I just gave you straight from Big Jimmy Haslam's mouth as well as a couple others worth several hundred million.

Haaaahaaaa..ok Bro..I'm betting you haven't but if that makes you feel pretty then by all means preach on brother. But nobody is buying it and no chance 8-4 or worse next season doesn't begin a new coaching search. But thanks for that high level info you think up!! And it was definitely more than feelers Butch was trying to get the hell out of here because he can't handle the stress and what is expected from the HC in Knoxville.
I gotta disagree..If Butch goes 8-4 or worse and loses to any of Vandy,SCe,UK or Mizzou combined with almost certain losses to Ala,LSU,Flor then he is pretty much gone. Not to mention toss up games with GA and Ga Tech. Just say he loses to Ala and LSU that makes him 0-5 Ala and 0-10 vs the West. Say we lose at UF that makes him 1-4 vs UF. And say we lose to GA so that makes him 2-3 vs GA. Then he better not lose to any of SCe,Vandy,UK or Mizzou. I think a lot hinges on what offseason moves he makes and they must be significant upgrades over this below Ave coaching staff he has right now. That would have given him 5 years and no SEC East title against a very weak SEC East, with loses to Ala,UF and GA that makes him 3-12 vs our 3 biggest rivals and assuming he beats Vandy and Mizzou that makes him 6-4 vs Vandy and Mizzou and 0-10 vs the West..With a new AD and having been given 5 years he won't get a 6th with 4+ losses next season. Not like we have a top 10 OOC game on our schedule.
Name these jobs besides the Purdue rumor.
You have access to Boosters and everything AD related so you tell us? But you don't inquire about the Purdue job or any others that are steps down if you can't handle what is being asked of you. Those are desperate actions from a man who is way out of his league and comfort zone. He won't be able to handle the criticism of another 8-4 or worse type season.
I'd say an 8-4 season 2017 would be hotly debated amongst the fans, so I'm really hoping the team doesn't end up there next year. There are just so many variables on how the team would have gotten to that record next year when you look at the schedule. A decent contingent of fans might give that record a pass IF the losses are at Florida, Alabama, home to LSU, and perhaps an OOC loss at Ga Tech. It's my guess that BJ wouldn't overcome 7-5. The program is gone beyond that as acceptable. 9-3 shows some progress even if the losses are to all three rivals. Really a shame that they're playing an away game against a decent opponent first game of the season. Like I said in another thread 8-4 is a tough one to gauge in 2017. I agree that he cannot lose to Missouri, USCe, Kentucky, or Vandy or any other game the Vols would right now be favored in. At the same time, I think your remarks on the emotional dissatisfaction of the fan base by mentioning what BJ's record would be against our 3 rivals if the team does an ofer next year to them. 1-4 to Florida is especially unacceptable when you consider how beatable they've been the last few years. 0-5 to Alabama while it makes me crazy is understandable. A lot of SEC coaches are 0 and something to the Tide.
Well that would be hard wouldn't it if it never really happened other than an agent trying to get a raise, now wouldn't it? Never claimed to know everything within the AD but you can continue to visit Volquest and let us all know what Brent Hubbs thinks.

Ten Candidates To Be The Next UH Head Football Coach | Houston Press
At no point has a credible article mentioned the name Butch Jones for the Houston job, even in its rumors.
I absolutely agree and being 0-5 against Ala shouldn't get anyone fired. But being 1-4 vs a very average UF team,3-2 at best vs Vandy,3-2 at best vs Mizzou,3-2 at best vs GA and most likely 0-10 vs the West is a different story. We really should beat GA Tech in the opener next year based off our talent compared to them but they have the better HC advantage. But 8-4 next year with losses to Ala,LSU then 2+ losses of any combo to average or worse teams such as UF,GA,GA.Tech,Vandy,SCe,UK or Mizzou will be the end for Butch. I want this to work and not have to go through another coaching change but I'm not sure he is willing to make the necessary changes or if he will ever be able to handle the pressure that comes with the job. If he thinks 8-4 and and getting to a bowl game is sufficient then he better go ahead and start looking for his next C.Michigan or Cincinnati gig. It's great we have atleast gotten back up being competitive in the SEC but it can't stop there nor will us Vol Fans be content with it. Nor should we be. There is just no reason we shouldn't be winning the East. Mizzou won it twice in their first 3 years in the SEC then McElwane has won it his first 2 years as HC with back up QB's and QB transfers. Butch has NO excuse at all.
Uhhh hummmm..Think lunch break is over Little fellow. Let the adults get back to talking and you get back to learning how to stay within the lines with your crayons. I will let you know when you can come back to the grown ups table.
But yeah, probably the right move by LSU. Canada will fit in nicely. Nice pick up for you guys.
He seems like a lovable goofball/class clown type. A guy you want to have around, but not necessarily running the program.
